A beautiful series of rides through idyllic countryside, pretty villages and dramatic coastlines. The routes were varied: Croatian gravel, unmade roads, sealed minor roads and main roads - steep and gentle hills, some undulating territory, all manageable even to beginner riders.
What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
I'll never forget the exhilarating ride on the last day - through the scary tunnel, out to the brilliant sunshine, then downhill beside sheer cliffs, the sea and vineyards, to a pebbly beach and fabulous swim.
What did you think of your group leader?
Ana was well organised, fun and enthusiastic. Together with Boris she made a perfect holiday for us, topped off with a very stirring rendition of the Croatian national anthem.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
You will love it!
Bring wet weather gear.
The optional ride to the national park is a perfect adventure.
What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Cycling along the coast and through the vineyards - stunning! Also getting into the support vehicle with Boris (our driver) when it was bucketing down with rain!
What did you think of your group leader?
Fabulous! Lots of fun and very supportive!
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Practice a bit of off-road mountain biking before you go, will help you handle the gravelly bits!
What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Completing the optional ride on the last day.
What did you think of your group leader?
Outstanding. Knew the territory, was very safety conscious, looked after us all day and night. Best of all she was great company and very friendly towards everyone.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Take rain gear, you may not need it but we did,

The ride back from Pupnat to Korcula was very pretty - topped off with a swim in the sea - perfect. In fact any day finishing with a swim was great. The last day of cycling along the coast was also very pretty. Cycling throught the vineyards was great too. I also thought the evening out at the home cooked food place outside Korcula was excellent - if a bit more pricey than we had been expecting (230 Kuna each) - this may have had something to do with the grappe.... Oh, and worth going to the Tower Bar in Korcula - good views in the day time, but make sure you can deal with ladders.

This was Bojan's first tour on his own and I think he did a great job managing a varied group which had diverse demands.

Croatia is not a cheap place - though not overly pricey either. As breakfast is the only meal included in the price there is plenty of money to be spent on food (and ice cream). Many of our group requested thet we have some picnic lunches which I think was reasonable (but you need a ruckack or something to carry it in from the supermarket!). The meal at the the top of the hill on the first day's cycling was very nice, simple food (bread, cheese, proscuttio and grilled veg) but many felt over priced - and as we hadn't had any choice or say I think some felt a bit "had" - hence the request that the group have a bit more freedom of choice. Obviously we expect our guide to make good recommendations for dinners etc so most of the time most of the group went with his advice - and it was very good.

The cycling distances are great I would say. Bit of up and down and there were options for swimming (keep your togs in the bus). There was a fair bit of getting on and off the bus - but this is expected for a tour which isn't point to point. Our group didn't get to do the optional Mljet trip as not enough people wanted to do it which was a shame - but not sure how you get around this issue. It was another cost too - the boat, lunch on boat, entry to the park etc - but it came highly recommended!
I would recommend doing the city wall walk in Dubrovnik - lovely early evening when not so hot.
Accomodation was fine - nice not to be moving every night.
What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
The cycling on Mjlet was lovely. So peaceful, beautiful and relaxing.
What did you think of your group leader?
Ana was a great tour leader. Enthusiastic, knowledgeable and well-organised. She also made sure we ate in great local restaurants and quickly sorted out issues when they occured (such as the one restaurant that ran out of red wine!!)
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Don't be lulled into a false sense of security by the short distances - there are regular hills with some particularly long climbs - nothing too difficult but do do some training before you go and you'll enjoy it more. The fabulous descents make up for all the climbing. We went in April it was glorious sunshine in the daytime but got quite chilly at night - take something warm!
Is there anything else you would like to add?
It's a very beautiful country - enjoy it!

CYCLING THE DALMATIAN COAST
Written
Good company, fantastic scenery, some nice meals, historic towns, beautiful weather.
What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Evening meal in an open-air restaurant up in the hills above Korcula
What did you think of your group leader?
Friendly, professional, excellent with the bikes but didn't offer much of historic or cultural interest. There was little or no time to look around some of the more interesting places we passed through e.g. Hvar, Ston.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Some of the restaurant choices were a bit suspect. The first restaurant we went to in Korcula was over-priced, with mediocre food and bad service. The first restaurant in Dubrovnik was bog standard, pricey tourist fodder.
