Great holiday. Tour guide and driver excellent as were participants on holiday. Accomodation excellent only criticism is that it was very expensive I am not convinced that you can justify the price.
It was a really refreshing holiday, some chances to push on the bike, but also to cruise along if that's what you felt like. Lots of back roads, some long hills, but enough stops at the right times. I came onto the ride knowing I was quite unfit and out of practice on hills, wanting to give it a go but jump on the bus if the hill was a bit too long or steep. The distances weren't too long for the day, so I did most of it anyway! The group was mixed, which was really nice as well - couples, singles, guys & gals, fit and less so, so a good opportunity to mix and chat at different times. The accommodation was better than I expected from other reviews of Croatia, and although breakfast was a mixed bag depending on the location, the food was excellent at the restaurants our leader Ana took us to for both lunch and dinner. Overall, I think one of the best ways to be introduced to Croatia - we had sunny skies all week, the landscape was beautiful, and we covered some great territory.
What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
The sheer beauty that around each corner, Mljet is just one example! Make sure to stop and look back now and then - particularly up the hills - otherwise you could miss half the beauty of the place. The villages were sleepy but each one could be a potential holiday chill out zone. Also nice was the sheer friendliness of Croatians.
What did you think of your group leader?
Ana was a great leader of the ride, and knew her way around! She was shepherd, leader, timekeeper, and downright honest about the nature of each ride ahead. A great example of a good group leader, firm when required, but let her hair down when relaxed.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Practice a few long hills before you go so you enjoy the climbs a little more, although the ride isn't just hills there are a few good steady ones. I would also recommend for people who have cycled before and know how to deal with pacing themselves according to their fitness. I also took my own saddle and pedals to put on the hire bike, which I think made the ride a lot more comfortable and easier. The hire bikes were good Author hard tails, no problems with them and relatively light bikes. There was a bike repair kit on the bus, but I also took my own pump, mini tools, and tire levers even though I didn't need them as the bus would meet you at intervals. One thing I would have liked to have done in hindsight is maybe a bar mounting for my camera, although we could stop most of the time to take pictures.
Most amenities are available, including internet cafes, but I had problems with roaming on one phone which happened to be my data backup for those few pesky work requirements. I also stayed in Split the evening before which allowed some extra tourist time before meeting the tour.

I think May is one of the best times to cycle in Croatia! Also take time out to soak up the history and sights, plus poke around in the corners for small surprises.
Fantastic, Marco was well informed and enthastic about telling us about the local culture. Really did make a massive difference to the holiday

Trip was great but didn't feel the trip was "good value" for money. i.e. Expensive .... Bike hire should be included in the price for a holiday such as this - who is really going to take a bike on a plane this far? Also when we got over we were asked for £100 to cover items such as ferry costs and then we had to buy our own lunch/dinner in the evening's. Some of the accomdation (not all) left a lot to be desired. All in all a very expensive trip. Marco (the tour guide) was the difference between an average trip and a good trip.
Exodus Response
Unfortunately Croatia is one of the most expensive destinations in Europe and this is obviously reflected in the overall cost of the trip. The additional money mentioned was actually 100 Euros and was a 'local payment' to cover fees that the guide paid for locally. As a result of client feedback, from January 2008 Exodus stopped using local payments on all of our trips.
In 2008 we also upgraded our choice of hotels on this itinerary.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
I guess it's inspiring to cycle to the top of an 11km/250m incline in 30 degree heat!
She was excellent with the cycling and technical stuff but not so good as a tour guide/leader.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Take your own helmut, swimmers and camera!
Is there anything else you would like to add?
** it would be good if there was a joining option for downtown Split as it's a hassle and extra cost to trek back out to the airport if you get there a few days earlier which most people would do as the tour doesn't involve any time in Split.

Fantastic scenery. Clear waters to swim in. Nice bunch of people to ride with.
