Adult Group Holidays Moderate New Trip Cycling Culture
  • Cycle by the beautiful River Danube
  • See four historic European capitals
  • Try different local cuisines, wines and beer
cycling along the Danube

Historical, cultural and geographical variety form the backdrop to this fascinating ride. Through the landscape of the Czech Republic, Austria, Slovakia and Hungary, this trip combines peaceful country lanes with well-marked cycle paths, including sections along the Danube, to showcase the best of Central Europe.

The riding is not challenging, though there are some long days as the route meanders past castles, through rustic villages, along rivers by lakes, allowing time to discover the vast range of influences on these former territories of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

Exploring the gentle countryside, rural towns and historic capitals by bike is a great way to sample the changing atmospheres and individual flavours of the region. These include UNESCO sites, national parks and the famous wine-making region of Moravia. The concentration of cultures and scenery provides a wonderfully contrasting ride through the heart of Europe.

What makes this trip responsible?

We have established a long term partnership with a local operator, who is committed to promoting tourism as a means of income throughout Central Europe, in particular to the rural communities of Slovakia and the Czech Republic. As such, outside of big cities, we stay in locally-run accommodation, and use local guides and transport companies.
