Spectacular road riding from the stunning Italian Dolomites to the lagoon city of Venice

One of Europe's unique mountain landscapes, the Dolomites are a mass of jagged limestone spires with a captivating history. Starting with incredible views of the South Tyrol's dramatic mountains, we cycle along a relatively easy old railway track, which played a significant part in the First World War and passes under the impressive Tre Cime di Lavaredo. On reaching Cortina D'Ampezzo we are immediately mesmerised by the breathtaking views of some of the Dolomites' most majestic peaks, including Tofana, Sorapis and Monte Cristallo. After a short train transfer we ride through 'the valley of ice cream makers' to Belluno, and a very different panorama of lush green countryside awaits. We then enjoy a well deserved grappa as the terrain starts to level out at Bassano del Grappa. Heading towards the Adriatic Sea, we cycle through the affluent town of Treviso before finally reaching the romantic lagoon of Venice. A boat ride along Venice's many canals is surely an excellent reward after an unforgettable journey through northern Italy's varied landscapes.
