This region is famous for its rolling hills, so be prepared for some climbing in places. Most days will require a reasonable level of fitness.
The Chianti section of the tour falls into the upper category of B grade riding. Distances per day vary from 50km to 65km; there are options to make the days longer if required. There are no transfers to or from hotels on this trip: all the rides are designed to be door-to-door. There is one free day in Siena and two circular rides, where vehicle support is not provided.
We aim to use quiet roads where possible, but sometimes we need to pass busy sections in order to reach the quiet roads on the other side. Sometimes the most scenic routes are on tarmac, with a possibility to cross onto some dirt / gravel roads (locally known as 'white roads'). Simple route notes are provided, so the group can spread out on certain sections.
Normal group size and age
Normally 7 to 15, plus cycling/driving leaders. Minimum age 16.
STAY IN FLORENCE
Our trip finishes in the beautiful Renaissance city of Florence.
Why not stay for a day or two after the trips finishes and spend time discovering the city's amazing architecture, history, wealth of art and museums.

The vast majority of Exodus adventures are adult group holidays. Groups are always small in size. We strongly believe that this adherence to small groups means a better experience for all; more time with your guide, less waiting around and a reduced impact on the communities and environments visited.
Each group is generally made up of like-minded travellers - with singles, couples and friends all joining in together. All these trips are suitable for single travellers, but if you prefer to travel with clients booking individually, please see our Solo Departures page.
Most people who enjoy a weekend riding on either trails or roads at home will enjoy a B-grade trip. You need to be in good health and reasonably fit. Ideal for occasional cyclists, or as a more relaxed trip for fitter riders. B-grade off-road trips require no previous experience. Distances on road trips rarely exceed 70 kms (43 miles) per day.
Cycling: Our cycling holidays come in all shapes and sizes; from gentle self-guided trips in the Veneto, to tackling the High Atlas in Morocco, or exploring the length of Vietnam.
Culture: Let Exodus show you a different side to many of the world's greatest cultural attractions.
