Adult Group Holidays Tough Special Interest Cycling

A spectacular ride through Italy and France climbing the Bonnette, Izoard, Galibier, Croix de Fer and Alpe d'Huez passes.

The climb of the iconic Alpe d\'Huez

Calling all climbers! Following on from the success of our 'Classic Cols of the Tour de France' trip in the Pyrenees, we are excited to offer a great new alpine version.

In recent years the Tour has often headed across the border into Italy, so we follow suit by starting our ride in the charming town of Cuneo. From here we warm up on a few lesser-known cols before heading back into France in search of some of the most iconic climbs in cycling history.

The first big challenge is the Col de la Bonnette, at 2802m the highest col in Europe and a favourite of Robert Millar. From here on the legendary climbs come in quick succession as we make our way across the spectacular alps over the cols of Vars, Izoard, Galibier and Croix de Fer. Although the distances aren't excessive, there is enough climbing each day to challenge even the fittest riders, but you are free to ride at your own pace.

We finish the route by tackling the famous 21 hairpins bends to Alpe d'Huez, a memorable finish to a memorable trip!
