Frequently Asked Questions
Antarctica Specific Questions
Do I need to bring my own wellington boots?
No. Boots are provided onboard. Bring numerous pairs of wooly socks though to keep your feet warm. We would also recommend a clothes peg or clip for your boots that you can clearly identify as your own. Helps to track down your own pair of boots in the wet room.
It’s summer time so on the Peninsula the temperature typically fluctuates a few degrees above and below zero. On an inclement day in a zodiac the wind chill will make it feel considerably colder than this. Remember the expedition boats are really snug and cosy so bring casual clothes you can relax in onboard. There’s no requirement to look like an explorer the whole journey.
If I’ve booked the kayaking how much can I expect to do?
Remember if you want to enjoy the kayaking this must be booked in advance. The actual amount of kayaking depends on the weather and the expedition route but you can expect to enjoy 5 or 6 kayaking excursions. These might be for an hour or for a full half day.
Argentina Specific Questions
I'm travelling via the US, do I need a visa?
Most clients are eligible to travel via the US under the US Visa Waiver Programme, however to do this you must register for an ETA (Electronic Travel Authority). This must be done prior to departure - more details can be found at www.exodus.co.uk/usvisa
Polar Expedition Specific Questions
Where can I find more information about the polar vessels?
The Polar Vessel link will give you all the information you require....including deck plans.
General FAQs
When will we know if a trip is going ahead or not?
As soon as we have reached the minimum numbers to guarantee the departure we will let our clients know or if we intend to cancel the departure we will endeavour to advise with appropriate notice.
If you are on the group flights or have pre-arranged this, an Exodus representative will meet you on arrival and transfer you to your Start Point/Hotel.
Where can I read about the cost and different types of insurance available through Exodus?
It is a condition of joining any of our holidays that you must be insured against medical and personal accident risks (to include repatriation costs, air ambulance and helicopter rescue services). We also strongly recommend that you take out cancellation insurance.
Our insurance policy is designed specifically to cover the potential risks on our holidays, and you should be aware that some policies do not include, or restrict, cover for this type of travel. If you do not take our policy, you must ensure that the policy you do take provides an equivalent level of protection and covers you for the activities involved.
Am I entitled to a loyalty reward?
If you've booked on two or more trips with Exodus, you will receive a 5% discount on your next Exodus booking. Dedicated travellers who've been on nine or more trips with Exodus will receive a 10% discount on all subsequent bookings.
Please note: Currently loyalty rewards cannot be applied through web bookings but you can advise us that you are eligible on the online booking form and we will check our records and your final balance will reflect your entitlement. Alternatively, please call 0845 330 6008 and speak to one of our travel experts.
Where can I get health and vaccination advice for my holiday?
We recommend Nomad Travel Stores & Clinics - Nomad provide expert advice on vaccinations, anti-malarials and staying healthy whilst overseas and we're delighted Nomad are also offering all Exodus customers 15% off any kit and 10% off vaccinations online or in any of their stores.
Where can I find all the practical information about this holiday?
If you download the trip notes from each trip screen, you'll find all (or nearly all!) of the information that you require about each holiday. Amongst other things, the trip notes contain useful information about: group flights; airport transfers; day-to-day activities; climate; accommodation; food; transport; insurance; visas; vaccinations; money issues; what to take; and reading lists.
