Day 1

Fly to San Jose.

Day 2

Morning city tour of San José with visit to farmers' markets; drive through rolling countryside and picturesque villages to Orotina; overnight camp.

Day 3

Drive to Monteverde; afternoon visit Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve for nature hike on forest trails.

Day 4

Free day in Monteverde for optional activities including horseriding, canopy walkways and zip lines.

Day 5

Continue to spectacular Arenal Volcano region and camp near hot springs.

Day 6

Morning nature walk in Arenal N.P.; free afternoon for optional activities.

Day 7

To Rincon de la Vieja N.P., a beautiful area of waterfalls, tropical dry forests, geysers and bubbling mud pools.

Day 8

Start the day with a hike in the national park; afternoon optional activities including tubing, mountain biking and canopy tours.

Day 9

Head to Samara for relaxation on the palm-fringed beach.

Day 10

Full day for optional activities such as snorkelling, kayaking, dolphin spotting and visit to turtle nesting sites.

Day 11

Return to San José for return flight to London.

Day 12

Arrive London.
