Whilst I can't recommend visiting Wadi Rum or Petra enough, I really can't recommend this trip. As an experienced hikers, we booked this trip last minute & were somewhat disappointed. There is a huge amount of dead time on the trip & not a great distance covered partly due to avoiding hiking in the midday heat but partly due to the supporting staff's communication / equipment failure, which is frustrating given the trip is only a week long. Camping in Wadi Rum is stunning but the equipment provided is poor (damaged tents and grotty perished mats to sleep on) & both support trucks broke down more than once, and on 1 occasion they broke down simultaneously. The catering was varied. The support staff were friendly but felt the trip leader, whilst knowledgeable on the various tourist stops en route, I felt wasn't keeping a close enough eye on the welfare of particular group members in the heat/ more challenging aspects of the route.
I feel that given the price of the trip Exodus need to answer various questions on the team on the ground & the difference in cost between the trip with/ without flights included advertised elsewhere. I also felt a bit irked that we were asked for cash tips from the 1st day and the amount recommended in the trip notes came to £65-70 which is quite steep given total cash amount recommended for trip is £200. I would have been happy with the haphazardness if I have arranged this myself on a whim, but having paid a premium for someone else to was disappointed with the result.
