Excellent tour around Cuba, time for walking, salsa and plenty of cocktails.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Reaching the summit of Pico Turquino, salsa on the steps in Trinidad.
What did you think of your group leader?
    Excellent, professional, and good fun.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

Err on the warm side with sleeping bag, 2/3 season definitely.

(mattresses are very comfortable in refuges and camping, so no need to worry about that)

Is there anything else you would like to add?
I would highly recommend this trip (and Cuba in general).

Cuba's a wonderful country, the people are thoughtful and interested, interesting and funny. I had a great time. Our local Cuban guide, Tony, was great and gave us a wonderful understanding of what it is to be Cuban. The Sierra de Escambray walking was lovely and swimming in the waterfall pools wonderful. I had been sick before this trip so was not at my best but the guide and leader helped me make all the walks.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

Salsa lessons were very inspirational - a chubby woman in lycra, with great self-esteem, tried to teach some basically unmisical people how to dance the Salsa. It was hilarious. It helped a bit with the dancing as well.

What did you think of your group leader?
Our Cuban leader, Tony was charming and helpful and extraordinarily knowledgeable. He really loves his country and tried to help us love it too.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

Don't bring everything on the Exodus packing list or your bag will be too full.

Learn some Spanish before you go, a little bit goes a long way.

     Relax and enjoy.

Cuba, a dream come true, it's history, it's flowers, it's health service, it's people and more. We got it all on our trip. It was extremely busy but worth it!

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
I made it to the top of Cubas highest mountain and got my picture taken with Hose Marti to prove it!
What did you think of your group leader?
Alesandro was amazing. He dealt with broken legs, bus break-ins, double bookings to national parks and more. Despite all, he managed to convey an aura of not a care in the world and was also pretty hot with the Salsa.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Take Salsa dance lessons before you go.

It was a marvellous holiday, better than expected. Our guide and our leader were very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the history and culture of Cuba, together with a beautiful country and people made for a wonderful experience. It was also a very good group of people that got on well together. Probably our best Exodus holiday.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
I think it was the Cubans themselves. They may be a very poor people but they are certainly not poor in spirit. I very much enjoyed the music as well, an added bonus.
What did you think of your group leader?
Our group leader was excellent. She was full of enthusiasm for Cuba and their culture and this certainly added to our experience. We also had a very knowledgeable Cuban guide. What he didn't know about the history and culture wasn't worth knowing. They were both fantastic.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
We didn't take any clothes for going out in the evenings and we could have done with some.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
It would have been nice to have a route map of the walking days. We brought our own road map to follow our progress but when we were in the national park and in the mountains I would have liked to have known where we were going. I still can't figure out where we were exactly in the Topes Collantes and where we rejoined the road.

A great trip, & a great group! There was a great sense of achievement, having reached the Pico Turquino heights. Not for the faint hearted! Once the mountain was climbed, I was ready for home. It was very difficult to justify hanging around for another couple of days, as everything we did subsequent to climbing the mountain, paled compared to the massive 'high' of reaching the Turquino peak.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
One of the ladies broke her leg on the ascent to Pico Turquino. Her husband & our leader carried her down the mountain, through very rough, undulating terrain. It took about 6 hours. It was a mammoth task. My own sense of self doubt, as to whether I would make the top of the mountain, was firmly turned on it's head, after gleaming wonderful inspiration from 'The 3 Muskateers'!
What did you think of your group leader?
Great guy. Even though he was not from Cuba, he demonstrated a measured, intelligent passion for Cuba. This he could marry with insightful views on Cuban life, wildlife, music & history.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Take 'wet wipes' with you, especially as you get into the mountainous areas!
Is there anything else you would like to add?
One of the 'off the cuff 'more memorable days, was when we were in Santiago de Cuba. Manual, took us on a boat trip & for lunch to an island off this coastline. It was truly magnificent. The weather was too hot to remain wandering around Santiago. So he gave us a choice, made a decision which everyone concurred with. This type of leadership is welcome and commendable, as he read the mood of the group so well. For me, the end result on this holiday was climbing Pico Turquino. Once I had this done, I was ready for home. I wanted to take this experience home with me. But, i found that the 'high' I felt after climbing the mountain, gradually became diluted, as i waited those extra days to get home. It was a long journey back to havana. Could we fly back from santagio? Just a suggestion. This trip may be too long. Also, do all the sight seeing before climbing the mountain. Then, we can travel home directly with this achievement burning in our minds.

The trip was my first exodus (or equivalent) group. I'm a 34 year-old male with a lot of independent travel experience (both on my own and with friends). I booked this trip as a single booking, as did the majority of our touring group. I will definitely book another exodus trip, particularly one like this which was challenging enough to be energetic and rewarding, but accessable enough that there was a nice varied group. The trip was exceptionally well organised and our UK guide, local guide and bus driver were all excellent.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
I thought the best part of the trip was either our three days /two nights staying in cabins in the Sierra Mastro mountains or, immediately following that, our few days in the city of Santiago De Cuba.
What did you think of your group leader?
Both the UK and local group leader were excellent -very professional and informative yet really good company as well.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
While you can get money over the bank counters in Cuba (with a 12% charge) it is a bit hit and miss. It's definitely best to bring GBP/Euro with you (better than USD)

Cuba - a country on the cusp of change, is a fascinating place. The people are warm & friendly, the atmosphere very diverse with colourful colonial architecture & modes of transport ranging from horse-drawn carts to Chevvies. Once out in the countryside you are transported back in time. Trekking in the mountains of the Sirra Maestra, visiting the revolutionary headquarters and the mausoleum give you an insight into how the revolution was achieved. Revolutionary slogans are everpresent reminders of who's in charge. Viva Cuba!

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

Crossing Laka Hanabanilla and starting the first trek in the Escambray range.

Trekking to the revolutionary HQ high in the Sierra Maestra in the rain.

What did you think of your group leader?
Ale and Angel made a fantastic team: both were really enthusiastic and very knowledgable about the history and way of life in Cuba.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

Remember to pack a headtorch and plastic rucksack liner for your spare clothes for the trekking days. You might need to walk in the dark at the end of the day and the rain can be torrential.

Remember to be flexible, timings can and do go wrong.

Is there anything else you would like to add?
Get there before it changes too much.
