I think that it was accepting the challenge of the primitive loop trail at Arches NP-a 7 mile hike which we began at 4.45am. I was warned that I would need help[although very fit ,I am 'mature' in years]. The help came in the form of strong hands that grasped mine ,and helped me over difficult rock faces. At the top we stopped for lunch ,admiring the wonderful view through the double arch.
Another was looking at Bryce canyon for the first time and gazing at all the amazing rock formations. We were told that the mormon Bryce had once lived there .Asked what he thought of the place he said'It's a terrible place to lose a cow'!
Also swimming in a fresh water pool-fed by mountain streams at Moab ,surrounded by butterflies and dragonflies and not a whiff of chlorine around.
Sunrise and sunset over the Grand Canyon were pretty amazing too...........the colour changes .
The night sky took my breath away- the Milky Way a huge river of light......and it was the time for meteorites .
