  Venezuela is simply beautiful; the waterfalls breathtaking.  Relatively undeveloped from a tourist perspective which is refreshing in many ways...fairly quiet and no souvenir shops by Angel Falls or on Roraima!

  What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

  Walking behind the falls at Sapo.  I don't know why but I have wanted to walk behind a waterfall for years and it did not disappoint; I was grinning all day.

  What did you think of your group leader?

  Brilliant.  Lovely disposition, enthusiastic about what he was showing us and full of information.  Compared to other trips I have been on I thought he had a heavy responsibility, sharing the driving and also making us dinner at times (which was damn good).  Clearly concerned to ensure we got there safely but also that we got a lot out of the holiday.  He does say he would love an Exodus T-shirt and/or hat so PLEASE Exodus, send him one (or several)!

  Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

  The 10k weight limit is tough when you know that you have to pack for heat, cold and wet, I wouldn't scrimp on socks though as it can be tough to get walking socks dry even when hot as it can be very humid and there is nothing like clean dry socks ;-).  They don't actually weigh your luggage at the Cessna flight so you can probably get away with a few kilos over but not worth risking more than that. Take your swim gear EVERYWHERE...loads of opportunities to swim/bathe. Ladies without a handy towel holding partner may find a two piece easier to get in and out of while preserving their dignity as there are few changing areas.  Take some bio degradeable soap.

  Be aware that the hotel in Canaima is very basic. Cold shower and you will probably end up geting the whole bathroom and the toilet roll wet as there are no shower curtains....! 

  You will get bitten....nothing seems to work, even those using deet got bitten. 

  When in Canaima and getting booze (assuming you do), don't buy white wine..there is nowhere to chill it.

  If you do hire a porter, I think you could get away with a 30L daysack for the Roraima hike so you may want to do that instead of carrying a 50L rucksack up half empty!  Take a small dry bag and depending on what you you are using to carry your luggage in generally, you may want to take another lightweight bag (maybe a larger dry bag) for when you leave your excess stuff behind while on trek.

  Is there anything else you would like to add?

  Go for the scenery, go for the mesmerising water, go for the unusual hike, go for the swirling clouds on top of Roraima but go.

  Excellent! A friend of a friend who was on the Explore equivalent remarked on how much better our equipment was for Roraima and that our group had more "get up and go". I couldn't disagree! Well organised
