The teachers have informed us they would welcome reading materials in English. The children would welcome magazines in English (among the boys, anything about English football or NBA basketball will go down very well). Please don't take sweets. Your tour leader will give you an opportunity to stop and buy materials in China, but you may find the choice rather limited. If you are a teacher and have English teaching aids (books, spelling cards etc), the teachers there would really appreciate these. The school also has a basketball court, so basketballs and basketball equipment goes down well - but be prepared, taking a basketball may lead to students Vs Exodus group game!

In cities and hotels you'll find the toilets pretty much match western standards. In the more remote areas and on motorway toilet stops, the majority of toilets will be squat toilets. It's recommended that you carry your own toilet paper as this isn't provided at most toilet stops once you leave Beijing. A head torch for using the toilet at night during your stay at the farmhouse is also recommended.
