Adult Group Holidays Leisurely / Moderate Relaxed Itinerary Walking & Trekking Culture Solo Departures Available

Essential Information

Trip Profile

4 days optional centre-based walking. Low altitude throughout, but a lot of steps.

Accommodation

7 nights family-run hotel with swimming pool.

Food

All breakfasts, 4 packed lunches and 6 dinners included.

Reality Check

Grade: Leisurely/Moderate. The pace of the walks is leisurely, so we have plenty of time to rest and enjoy the views. During the days with walking included, the terrain and type of path track will vary from manmade paved tracks, tarmac to forest trails.

The Monte Tre Calli walk involves some steep climbs and descents on slightly lose terrain.

Optional walks on Mount Vesuvius are on rocky cinder/gravel trails and likely to be loose underfoot, with steep sections and quite large drops in places. Routes to the coast involve large descents on many steps, so walking poles or sticks are strongly recommended. In places the paths are a little exposed and not suitable for severe vertigo sufferers.

All walks take between 4 and 6 hours including lunch stops and require a moderate level of fitness. On a couple of days, particularly on Day 3 (Bomerano to Amalfi walk) and Day 7 (Walk of the Gods), there are considerable sections of steps (some of which can be avoided by taking the bus).

The laid-back attitude in the south of Italy not only affects the pace of life but public services, most notably the buses. Delays are quite common and some waiting around at bus stops should be expected. Public transport is normally used in order to reduce our carbon footprint.

Normal group size and age

Normally 6 to 16, plus leader. Minimum age 16.

Misc

PIZZA MAKING DEMONSTRATIONS - Our hotel is well known in the area for its excellent cuisine. On one night during our stay, the chef will share his expertise and show how to make a true Neapolitan pizza. This is always a fun and entertaining evening!

Adult Group Holidays The vast majority of Exodus adventures are adult group holidays. Groups are always small in size. We strongly believe that this adherence to small groups means a better experience for all; more time with your guide, less waiting around and a reduced impact on the communities and environments visited.
Each group is generally made up of like-minded travellers - with singles, couples and friends all joining in together. All these trips are suitable for single travellers, but if you prefer to travel with clients booking individually, please see our Solo Departures page.

Leisurely / Moderate In order to provide a more accurate grading system, where a trip falls between two grades we use an intermediate or split grade, for example Leisurely/Moderate. Occasionally, there are optional activities available en route, in this case the optional grade is indicated in brackets, for example Grade Challenging (climb Tough+). Clearly, conditions may differ from region-to-region or month-to-month and as such the information given on these pages is designed to act as a guide only. In all cases you should refer to the respective holiday's Trip Notes for further details.

Relaxed Itinerary Relaxed Itinerary: A range of itineraries seeking out intriguing and off the-beaten-path destinations in a little extra comfort!

Walking & Trekking Walking & Trekking: Trips are wholly trekking-focused or simply include a significant number of walking days during the itinerary.

Culture Culture: Let Exodus show you a different side to many of the world's greatest cultural attractions.

Solo Departures Available For those clients who wish to travel with a group of other solo/single travellers, on certain trips we have set aside departure dates that are specifically recommended for clients booking individually. Solo departures are aimed at taking away that concern that you may be the only solo traveller when you arrive overseas. Look out for the solo departures (marked with a grey icon's') by checking the notes in the dates and prices table.
However, please note that we inform any couples, or friends travelling together, who enquire about these dates that the trip is recommended for solos, but we do not refuse bookings from non-solo travellers, and we are therefore not able to guarantee that a solo departure will be exclusively made up of solo travellers.
