This is an excellent holiday in a beautiful part of Italy. The walks are great and the food is fantastic.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Walking to the summit of Mount Vesuvius in the wild windy weather. It was very atmospheric.
What did you think of your group leader?
Paula was very enthusiastic. Also the way she herded us on to the rather hectic local transport was incredible.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
The walking was more strenuous than I had expected. There are many steps and these take their toll on the calves and knees. Walking poles are a must.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
The food is excellent and they happily catered for those of us who weren't too keen on fish.

A fantastic week's walking in a beautiful area.  Its tough waking in places but all do-able. Anyway its good to be pushed beyond our comfort zones sometimes. A walking stick was an invaluable aid to the majority of us (young and older), especially down hill, but they do have some for use at the hotel.  The hotel couldn't have made us more welcome and the food was totally yum! The rooms were spacious, v.clean and well equiped and provided big sparkling white towels daily. Staff at hotel were excellent. Kitchen cooking demos added to the overall experience as did the visit to the local village cheese factory.  Thanks to all the group for making the week such a great experience.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

Inspirational moments were for me Walk of the Gods for the views (steps down to Possitano at the end, lots of them, but unless your knees are suffering by that point, they were no problem we all agreed). Guided optional walk around the rim of Vesuvio, dropping 20 meters down inside to the fumerols was facinating, and visiting the waterfalls in the nature reserve on the valley walk, which was a complete and wonderful surprise to us who ventured in. Viewing Possitano from a-high on three peaks walk, magic!

What did you think of your group leader?
Juan, our guide was knowledgeable and helpful.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Take comfy walking boots, preferably, and a walking pole (useful as a third leg on some tricky terrain). The walks do require a reasonable level of fitness and are not just stolls.  There are some steep upward gradients and tricky downward decents.  Beaches are stones/pebbles so beach shoes came in useful for swim opportunities. It was a good time do this trip as end september is marginally cooler for walking but still very very pleasant for a sea dip and a cold beer.

This was the second time I have done the Amalfi Coast trip: firstly by myself in 2005 and, after having such a lovely time, I decided to bring my husband and friends along.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
No one moment in particular, but being in such an interesting and pretty part of the world makes the whole week worthwhile.  The Walk of the Gods is great, as was the view from top on the first day's climb.  The family- run hotel and being in a town not overrun with tourists is a great bonus.
What did you think of your group leader?
Unfortunately, the only part of the trip that was disappointing for our group was the leader.  He seemed a bit "over it" as far as being a group leader goes.  While I appreciate he was unwell with a cold, he gave little or no advice, showed little knowleldge or interest in answering questions and generally was a bit useless.  Having done this trip in 2005 with a different group leader (and having an expectation of Exodus providing us with a similarly enthusiastic leader), I was quite disappointed (and a little embarrassed as I had encouraged three others to come).
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Definitely do the Amalfi Coast trip.  The downhill walking can be tough on your knees, so take walking sticks if you think this may be an issue.  On the walking days, think "moderate" for your rating; the "leisurely" part of the rating relates to the non-walking days. I also think a day-trip to Capri on your free day would be advisable.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
I think Exodus are a great travel company and I would happily go on another trip with them in the future.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

    All walks were really enjoyable.

    Pompeii & Vesuvius were fantastic.

What did you think of your group leader?

Not much - he seemed disinterseted. Daily advice & information was lacking ie. re the lack of toilets.

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

While this is not a difficult walking holiday it is not a stroll in the park.

Take a proper hat, NOT a cap.

This was our first trekking holiday and our first trip with Exodus - both were great.  The Hotel Due Torri was a perfect base for some wonderful walks.  It was confortable with lovely food and very friendly and helpful staff.  We felt like we were tourists sharing in a part of 'real Italy', rather than holiday Italy.  The guide was superb with loads of local knowledge and heaps of infectious enthusiasim.  The walks were tough in places (for leisurely/moderate grading) especially in the August heat but they were well worth the effort for some spectacular views.  In addition, you get to visit the amazing ruins of Pompeii and peer into the (active) Vesuvius volcano.  I would thoroughly recommend this trip.

The scenery was wonderful (although not a patch on the Pembrokeshire coastline). The walking was challenging and ultimately offered spectacular views, however in the August heat was not always enjoyable. The days where we were not walking were interesting.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

On the boat trip on the last day, you get to see from a distance exactly how far you have walked and climbed over the week, that was a satisfying moment.

The village where the hotel is based was a highlight of the trip. There aren't really tourists there, just a working village where every garden is fully utilised for growing vegetables and fruit or housing animals. It is wonderful place to spend an afternoon wandering around. You'll also find possibly the best espresso's in Italy there too.

What did you think of your group leader?
    Excellent. Very thorough and attentive.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

The walking on this holiday is not moderate. I would recommend some incline training before hand for anyone who does not hike regularly.

I went in August, it was incredibly hot. The walking is challenging enough without having to climb in 32 degree heat. Many in the group became hot and sweaty very quickly. This was really uncomfortable at times. I would advise going at a different time.

Bug spray is essential for the evenings.

The roads to the village and Amalfi are long and windy. If you are someone who suffers from motion sickness, ensure that you take appropriate pills with you.

Is there anything else you would like to add?
The hotel is clean however the beds (particularly the single ones) are short, narrow and desperately uncomfortable. I genuninely didn't have a good night's sleep once, not matter how tired I was from all the walking. In addition, the provision for vegetarians was not good. It was clear they had not planned for the vegetarians, every night we were an after thought. Considering the wonderful vegetarian food available in Italy it was disappointing that the best on offer some nights was a plate of cold vegetables.
