I thought the trip was great: beautiful scenery; walking at a pace suited to the capability of the group; some lovely sightseeing options e.g. Pompeii, Capri and the trip guide (Christine) was super, very enthusiastic and positive.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
The views of the coastline were consistently wonderful and the walks were a very enjoyable way to see a really beautiful area.
What did you think of your group leader?
Christine was great - unfailingly encouraging and good fun.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
I was a bit worried as it was my first walking trip and although I walk regularly at the weekends, my usual walk is only about a 6 mile walk along the seafront which is flat. I found the walks very doable as although there is quite a lot of going up/ going down, the pace is very leisurely.

An excellent week with a good balance of walks interspersed with culture (Pompeii etc).  We had a completely dry week (in October!) which helped.  Good family run hotel wher nothing was too much trouble.  Walks reasonably easy (the Exodus rating was about right) A touch too many steps.  What gorgeous countryside.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
I loved walking through the sweet chestnut groves where it was so peaceful before descending to the hustle and bustle of Amalfi. Pompeii and Herculaneum were both stunning and very different so it's worth seeing both. Although our walk around the Vesuvius crater was done in mist it was still a great experience.
What did you think of your group leader?
Albert was an excellent leader with a wealth of knowledge about the area. He has built up a rapport with the local people which benefitted us in many ways. He was always very calm and pleasant, I felt that we were in good hands.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Many people have mentioned the steps and on the first walk down into Amalfi from Boneramo there are certainly a lot! If you take it easy it's not too difficult and our guide built in lots of little stops for everyone to catch up.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
If you would like a varied holiday amidst beautiful scenery with leisurely walks it would be hard to beat this holiday. We had good food and wine, saw one of our meals prepared in the kitchen before we ate it and had comfortable accommodation. The family run hotel has a nice feel about it. All in all a most enjoyable week with lovely walking companions and a great guide!

An excellent trip overall with a mixture of sightseeing and walking. A lovely hotel where everyone was friendly and very helpful.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

Included in the programme is the trip to Pompeii and on our free day a group of us took up the offer of a trip to Herculaneum. This much smaller coastal town was covered by a mudslide when Vesuvius erupted in 79AD and was  preserved by the mud. We were able to compare the 2 sites. We had the same excellent guide Ettori at both sites and Herculaneum was much less crowded than Pompeii.

What did you think of your group leader?
Christine our group leader  was excellent. So enthusiastic and cheery. We were given free time after the walks, in her words "to run and skip and play and have fun".Paddling in the sea to cool the feet after the walks was wonderful!  She has a good rapport with the hotel owners and nothing was too much trouble.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
We are based on the plain above Amalfi and Positano so although there is a lot of descent on the walks it's not all downhill and when it is it tends to be on limestone steps which can be quite tough going. The walks however are not long in distance and our pace was set by the slowest member. We had lots of time to take pictures  and there were frequent cake/refreshment stops.

Stunning scenery and some lovely walks.  Do be wary if you're doing this holiday because its rated Easy/Moderate.  If you're very unfit  or not walked before you will struggle (as some of our group did).  Only slight criticism were that we were based in one hotel so you have dinner there every night and the food was of a lower quality than if you were eating a la carte.  Pretty bog standard fare and you expect better when in Italy.

If you're unfit or never walked before don't think this trip will be easy.

Lovely walking trails with spectacular views of the coastline, quite rocky in places which could be challenging on the knees/calves/thighs!

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Seeing the beautiful coast and the visit to Herculaneum.
What did you think of your group leader?
Jo Payne was fantastic. Good guide and a great sense of humour. Very caring and helpful. She tended to underplay the walks a little (so this didn't put people off), but we all helped each other and discovered we were actually capable of achieving more than we might have first thought. She was extremely encouraging and gave plenty of breaks with little stories of local knowledge. It was obvious that she was very highly thought of by the local people.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Get reasonably fit first. Poles are a good idea as there are lots of 'undulations' and steps. It is cooler in the mountains than on the coast so a jumper (and pyjamas at night!) is a good idea.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
This was our first Exodus trip, our first walking holiday, and our first group holiday! The dynamics of the group were brilliant and we will definitely do another at some stage.
