Fly London-Verona, transfer to Nago.
We start our tour exploring the cobbled streets of Nago and then take a short walk up to Penede Castle, where we are rewarded with breathtaking views of Lake Garda, before we descend through the olive groves to Torbole. This was once the busiest port in northern Lake Garda but had now been popularised by the attractive beach and clear waters. From Torbole we will follow the shore to Riva (approx. 6 kms). This afternoon you will have free time, perhaps taking the opportunity for a self-guided walk to Il Bastione, Riva del Garda's 16th century fort.
During this morning's walk along a panoramic trail from Nago to Tempesta (approx. 7 kms) we will be immersed in the local flora and fauna whilst enjoying the beautiful landscape. We will return by bus and this afternoon we will visit the charming town of Limone, on the western lakeside. Limone is a lively little town built around a small harbour where you can taste a glass of local Garda Classico wine, or perhaps take a stroll through the olive groves before returning to Nago.
Today we will have a day of walking away from the lakeside. After breakfast we transfer to the small town of Arco, where we have the chance to visit the Botanical gardens. The contrasting geography of mountains and lakes has created a varied climate that supports an array of flora. Our walk today will include some rocky sections as we walk on the slopes of Monte Biaina to Dro, with views of the Sarca valley below. We complete our walk (approx. 7 kms) at the village of Dro from where we return by bus to Nago.
Today is free to choose from a variety of optional activities including boat trips to the Roman villa at Sirmione, a self-guided walk or bike ride or a day trip to the magnificent city of Verona.
Transfer after breakfast to Riva and enjoy the rich mix of historic buildings and beautiful parks before continuing to the glacial Lago di Tenno and the start of our walk. The vast majority of the walk is downhill as we descend back towards the lake following the valley. En route we pass the mediaeval villages of Canale and Tenno before reaching the dramatic 100 metre high Cascata del Varone waterfalls (approx.11 kms).
We transfer by boat to Malcesine and board the spectacular Funivia (cable car) to the summit of Monte Baldo (1800m) for views over Lake Garda and the surrounding mountains. On arrival at the summit we take a gentle walk along the Tratto Spino to a panoramic viewpoint. This is an easy, flat walk (approx. 4kms) and will take around 45mins in total for the return trip. Descend by Funivia to explore the mediaeval town and a well-deserved coffee.
Transfer to Verona airport; fly to London.
