Excellent holiday. Stretched us in terms of terrain. Fellow guests were friendly and looking for a good testing time in glorious surroundings as we were, so we all got on.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
    Michaelangelo's quarry.
What did you think of your group leader?
Excellent. Nothing too much trouble. We also enjoyed the presence of Steve learning the routes.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
    Be prepared. Boots are necessary.

Disappointed in Exodus that you didn't provide one evening meal because you said the first night (when we arrived at 1am after the late flight that you arranged) was included as one of the meals. Very petty and lowered the tone. Poor customer relations.

Countered by the willingness of Steve and Sarah to be flexible on the last day dropping some of us in Pisa early.

    Exodus Response

It is unfortunate that Exodus could not offer the meal on the first night for this particular group. When the group arrives late on the first day, it is regrettably too late to offer an evening meal. Please be assured that 5 evening meals are still offered during the week.

A most enjoyable holiday.  Great walking, great food, great company.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

Beating the wind to make it to the top of the high peaks of Tuscany and making it back to the mountain refuge before the storm blew up.

What did you think of your group leader?
Excellent chap, very sociable.  He looked after us very well and laid on some additional entertainments in the evenings!
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Surprisingly, walking in the big hills of Tuscany in mid-July might not be as overly hot as you might think.  Often needed a jumper in the evenings.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
A great holiday will be going with Exodus again, soon I hope.

Although I'm writing this review some 6 weeks after returning home the memories & images of this tranquil corner of Italy are still clear and will remain with me for some time. In no particular order I will remeber the hearty food, good company and beautiful mountain walks.

What did you think of your group leader?
Sara ws an excellent and well prepared guide. Always willing to listen and help and capable of bringing  a diverse group together.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Make no assumptions about Italian sunshine. Even in late June it can rain on the odd day. Many options and alternative walks available though so it was possible to avoid the worst of it.

I had a great time! The area is absolutely beautiful and it really is off the tourist track. Out of five walks we only met 2 people on one of the walks. Amazing. We were a small group of 6 people and it was great getting to know everybody. It really was a holiday which took me completely away from everything. Although it was only a week I came back with my energy tanks overflowing.

What did you think of your group leader?
Rupert was an excellent tour guide. He always found the right pace for all members of the group and he simply knows the area inside out.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

If you are thinking about a diet start it after your holidays. Mama's cooking is absolutely fantastic and you really don't want to offend her by leaving any bit of your three courses on your plate :-).

The Dead Man must have been smiling upon us because we had a super week walking in the mountains with Sara and Sabina.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
The sense of achievement in completing quite difficult (for me) mountain walks.  But this trip has everything going for it - magnificent landscapes, tranquil forests, beautiful flower meadows, wildlife - and home base is a most attractive Tuscan farmhouse where Mamma and her family offer exceptional hospitality.
What did you think of your group leader?
Brilliant!  Sara is inspirational, with excellent knowledge of the mountains and their flora and fauna, she is professional and fun, and her contribution to the group's enjoyment of the week was immense.  Sabina, the family German Shepherd with a personality all her own, quickly became an integral member of the group and proved to be a pretty good deputy guide.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
    Just go on this trip!
Is there anything else you would like to add?
It has to be "kedang, kedang, whoo, whoo" - the crazy singalong in the minibus at the end of our trip on the way to the airport, thanks to Else from Holland!

For me this trip "ticked all the boxes" of a week's walking holiday.  Splendid scenery, walks presenting enough of a challenge to make me feel I'd achieved something, wonderfully welcoming hosts, delicious home-cooked food, extremely comfortable accomodation, the consummate guide/leader and a group that provided plenty of craic ! Says it all really !

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Mmmmmn.....getting to the top of Monte Prado;; the scent of herbs, flowers and trees on our walks; in the evening staring at the distant stars above and fireflies all around; waking early to the birdsong, one morning watching a hoopoe just outside my window; the refreshing cool of the pool after a walk; watching stylish Italians nonchalantly negociating the streets on their bicycles when visiting Lucca on the free day; peccorino cheese, honey and walnuts...eaten all together (local speciality) in Barga. These are just a sample !
What did you think of your group leader?
This is a very pointed question but as I said already we had the consummate leader. Her enthusiasm and obvious commitment were inspirational, her support always offered at the right moment, her sense of fun was infectious and I trusted her absolutely.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

If you have any illusions that you might lose weight with all the walking.......forget it !! Mama's cuisine was so good and her persuasion to have seconds, thirds (!) was impossible to evade unless you were extremely firm and then you risked an expression on her face which made you feel like the biggest heel !!!

Incidentally I don't think the trip notes sell the accomodation as well as they might by saying that it shouldn't be considered "a luxury villa". Whilst this may be true I thought the standard was very good. Appreciate that people's perceptions vary.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

The family were so welcoming and genuine amidst all their hard work maintaining this Agriturismo business. Does make for a unique experience.

I believe that the grade is changing for next year to moderate which is probably ok ( what do I know ?).

Personally I had a fabulous time and thought it a brilliant holiday experience. I know the group dynamics and leader all play a part and ours was great, however I hope lots more people get to enjoy the "Braccicorti Experience". Find it hard to imagine anyone being disappointed !
