  What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

  The fabulous views over the mountains, the meadows full of flowers and the nuthatches and redstarts chirruping in the vineyard outside the bedroom window.

  Sitting in small cafes overlooking Tuscan villages scoffing pistachio gelati.. (or chestnut beer).

  Rocky ascent to Monte Sumbro and picnic at the top looking down at the mountains poking through the clouds.

  Cycling the medieval walls of Lucca on a tandem. 

  Propping up the cathedral belfry in Pisa (the leaning tower!) 

   

  What did you think of your group leader?

  Truly exceptional. Sara did a lot of little extras to make it easy and enjoyable for us--sorted laundry, wet boots, bought train tickets, provided individual annotated maps, catered for dietary likes and dislikes, provided a constant supply of chocolate biscuits. She was extremely well organized and very generous with her time and effort.

  Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

  If you like walking and good food, don't hesitate, book it. It is not rolling meadows though, be prepared for a little effort. Also, mountain weather is always unpredictable, so even in summer, waterproofs are a must.

  What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

  Being on top of Mt Prado, with the most stunning views imaginable sharing a fantastic picnic lunch. But every day was different, each trek having its own personality. I wouldn't have wanted anything to have been done differently.

  What did you think of your group leader?

  Sara Bull is the best leader I have had on a trip. She knows the region very well and her enthusiasm for the Garfgnana is genuine and infectious. She was very attentive to all of the group members' needs and requests without being intrusive. She was also very good company.

  Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

  Just book it!

  Is there anything else you would like to add?

  Special mention must be given to Mama and her family who were such wonderful hosts at the idyllic Braccicorti Farm House. We felt at home straight away as there is a lovely relaxed atmosphere. It is clean and set in beautiful surroundings. We were given the advice on day 1 that to make Mama happy we should eat her food. I made Mama VERY happy- the food is delicious!

  What did you think of your group leader?

  Sarah exceeded expectations. I damaged my hip shortly before leaving for this walking holiday so I expected to spend my time by the pool drinking gin and tonics. Thanks to Sarah showing me some shorter walks I was able to join in with the group, on some occassions, without spoiling their walking enjoyment. 

  Is there anything else you would like to add?

  The surprise Birthday Party organised by Sarah and the group was great. Ballons, sparkling wine, presents - what more could you want!

  What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

  Managing to walk up a mountain with a sprained ankle and twisted knee, and then back down again!

  What did you think of your group leader?

  Sara is wonderful- lovely girl, always genuine, supportive and funny

  Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

  Try to get in some steep walks before going- bring walking poles (they do help) and ensure your jacket is waterproof not shower proof

  Fantastic!

  Go walking in Tuscany. Challenging week was great......not horrendously difficult.

  The whole holiday came up to expectations. Our guide Sara couldn't have done more for us and adapted our walking to suit the weather per4fectly. The accommodation was comfortable and welcoming and their food delicious. The walking was challenging for me but achievable and worth the effort. Having the company of Elvis the dog on some walks was an added bonus.

  What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

  Walking the ridges on the last couple of days was lovely, the sun had appeared and it was great having constant wonderful vistas and knowing that I could manage the terrain.

  What did you think of your group leader?

  I couldn't fault Sara. She was thoughtful, competent, efficient and caring.

  Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

  Go.

  Enjoy the ice cream parlours!
