Completed the "challenging" week, great walks good company lovely location with swim pool for a few lengths before breakfast and hiking. Then after our wonderful walks in the mountains with Liz our very professional group leader and guide we had Mammas fantastico cooking to look forward to. Top notch.

A thoroughly enjoyable week away.  My first trip with an organised tour as a solo traveller and was made to feel at ease immediately.  The weather was the most challenging part, as I was not expecting so much rain in August.  However, this added to the holiday and didn't stop the group from having fabulous walks and lots of laughter.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Realising that I wasn't as unfit as I thought I was!!!
What did you think of your group leader?
Liz was really considerate & generous with her equipment, she worked hard to ensure that everyone was happy and safe.  I learnt a lot about the area from her.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Remember that challenging walking holiday means you have to be prepared for all hiking conditions even during the summer months.

I had a really lovely holiday. I was concerned about the trip as I had an accident 2 weeks beforehand and badly damaged my ankle but everyone  including the guide, local staff and clients helped and made the experience one to remember. Infact I am thinking of returning to Tusacany to complete the walks that I was unable to do.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

Actually arriving and meeting fellow walkers and knowing that they would help me to complete some of the walks .

What did you think of your group leader?
She was great, knowledgeable or area,  fun, professional and in my case very understanding about my inability to walk every day.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

Tuscany is fabulous, walking and accomodation first rate  and should be on your tick list.

    Stick with Exodus

Is there anything else you would like to add?
This was my 8th holiday with you and did not let me down for a great holiday

I had a fantastic holiday. Great food in a wonderful setting and really good company from the other travellers. The Exodus leader was really knowledgable and I felt that I was well looked after throughout.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
It was a real sense of achievement to climb up the largest mountain in Tuscany on the final day. The weather was great and the views were stunning. I also enjoyed the day trip to Cinque Terre, which the whole group did together. What a lovely place to visit.
What did you think of your group leader?
Sarah was brilliant. She made every walk seem easy by explaining clearly what each stage involved and always making sure that each individual was comfortable. She also had a very thorough knowledge of the area so that we knew where we were and what we were looking at. An exemplary leader.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Do be aware that if you choose to go out for day trips the food and drinks in the more touristy towns can be quite expensive. The local pizza restaurant and the trains are comparatively cheap.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
I would sincerely recommend people take this trip and am even considering repeating it for myself sometime in the future.

A great holiday where you got to see rural Italy away from the tourists. The food and hospitality where we stayed were second to none, but  it was the guide, Sarah who made it so special - the best guide we have come across.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
The second day on the 2 day ridge walk. This was a long day as we climbed 2 peaks but the views, isolation and having that great feeling of being exhausted after a great day were awesome!
What did you think of your group leader?

fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble. She took it in her stride that she had people in the group that didn't realise they were on a C week and my partner who suffers from vertigo.

She was also very capable and sensible. I have had guides before who in an emergency struggle. I had every confidence in Sarah that if something did happen she would take it in her stride and deal with it both efficiently and effectively.

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
read the literature - there are B, C and solo weeks!!
Is there anything else you would like to add?

This is the 2nd time I have been on an exodus holiday where people in the group were not up to the walking. I think head office when people ring up to book these holidays should point out what grade the holiday is and ensure the clients understand this. We were very fortunate on this trip that Sarah knew the mountains so well and hence could organise day walks where people could opt out of the harder parts.

Unfortunatley the person who was going to circulate emails must have lost the piece of paper!! Please could you either give me Sarahs email address or tell her mine - [address removed for protection] so I can send her some pictures she wanted.

We had an awsome time in Italy. It couldn't be any better. The guide (Sara) was a very experienced, friendly, devoted person who had a lot of good stories to tell and was willing to help us in any way she was able to. The accomodation was authentic Italian. We would like to give our compliments to Mama, who's cooking was yammie, yammie!

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
THere were a lot of inspirational moments. When we reached the top of Mount Prado and Mount Sumbra. The "Sound of Music" feeling we got when we reached a field of flowers and grass on some mountain. Very inspirational were the stories Sara told during the walks. And of course the presence of the german sheppard Sabina who accompanied us during te walks.
What did you think of your group leader?

She was really great. We think she was the best group leader we ever had. She knew a lot of the place. She was very devoted to here job, a good driver, very funny but also very serious when we had to pay attention at difficult spots during the walks. Could not be better!

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
    Yes, do this trip!

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Overcoming a little apprehension about the height and terrain on Mount Sombre, then enjoying the sense of achievement of reaching the summit with the rest of the group.
What did you think of your group leader?
We knew we were in good hands. Our guide, Sarah was 1st class. Very professional but friendly, knowledgeable, helpful with other arrangements and very thorough.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Watch out for that recommended walk from Monterasso to Venazza if you choose to do Cingue Terra on your "free day". We were expecting a lazy low level lollop around a few coves and along some beaches. It is in fact  a very high path, very narrow and very busy with tourists . With the occasional "iffy" points where we took extra care. We were glad to reach Venazza and assure you there were a good few extra pints sold that day!
Is there anything else you would like to add?
The punctuality of the Italian trains was impressively impeccable.
