TET - TRINS: THE AUSTRIAN TYROL

Day 1
Fly to Munich. Start Trins (3 hours from Munich airport).

Day 2 - 7
Five guided daywalks through Gschnitztal and Obernberg valleys, plus one free day. All walking is optional and you may choose simply to relax in the hotel or visit Innsbruck for the day.
Grade B walking will include climbing to the old chapel of St. Magdalena, perched on a ledge at 1600m above the valley floor. Using a cable car to gain height, we can ascend the summit of Nösslachjoch (2231m) for a wonderful walk along an open ridge, before descending gently to the valley floor. Making use of public buses, we also walk to the scenic Obernbergersee Lake (1600 m) and we also climb steadily to some of the high mountain huts above the Gschnitztal, including the Tribulaunhütte (2064 m), set in a huge, rocky amphitheatre and the Blaserhütte (2180 m) and up to the summit of Blaser (2236 m) with a stunning 360° panorama of the glacier-clad Stubai alps.
Grade C will involve walking to reach a selection of the mountain huts in the immediate area of the Gschnitztal, including the Padasterjochhaus (2232 m), the Tribulaunhütte (2064 m) with a possible extension across impressive screes and the Blaserhütte (2180m) each with stunning views of the glacier-clad Stubai Alps. We climb to the Blaserhütte via the Langes Tal, a rugged limestone valley leading to the knife edge ridge and summit of the Peilspitze (2392 m) with an incredible 360° panorama. From the Obernberg valley, we ascend to the Portjoch (2110 m) for a magnificent balcony route on the Italian side of the border ridge, with, on a clear day, spectacular views of the Dolomites far to the south.
The free day can be used for an excursion to the attractive city of Innsbruck or a trip over the Brenner Pass by train to the South Tyrol, or you may prefer to do some self-guided walking in the area around Trins. There is a host of possibilities and our leaders will be on hand to offer advice.

Day 8
To Munich; fly to London.
