What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Each hike had great views so I can not choose....although it was kind of neat to lunch sitting on the Italian side at the summit with views of Italy down below.
What did you think of your group leader?
Bob had a lot of experience hiking in this area and it showed....new about every little change that had occurred (over the last years) along the trails and enjoyed providing information about the wildlife.
Chris was just as pleasant and helpful with any little problems (in my case the laundry!!!) we had.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
The trip notes are quite accurate so no.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
I book this trip as my travel agent out of Toronto suggested it when I found out that my vacation dates were changed. I had asked for a hiking trip in an area that was not too hot nor crowded. Could not be more pleased with the outcome.
The food at the hotel was very good every day.

Beautiful scenery, warm hospitable people, a cozy hotel, great and very varied meals. Our guides have obviously created, and actively maintain, a high degree of good will between Exodus and the local people we met over the course of the week.
What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Morning mist filling the Gschnitztal valley. Crossing into Italy at altitude. Hiking through clouds on the one rainy day we got. A young bull running up to give me what-for as I crossed "his" meadow.
What did you think of your group leader?
We were well looked after. Chris and Bob have extensive knowledge of, and genuine affection for, the area. They also seemed to know most everyone we ran into. You'd think they grew up here themselves. A special thanks for getting our teenage son an extra helping on the occasions when the gourmet-sized dinner courses didn't slake his ravenous appetite.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Do not, as our family did, neglect to bring proper equipment (walking poles, modern day-packs, worn-in boots). The descents each day are hard on the knees, and the right equipment can at least mitigate this.

A wonderful walking holiday with stunning scenery and excellent food. I'd thoroughly recommend.
What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
All of the walks were absolutely beautiful, with views of the local mountains and even the Dolomites (which was a very unexpected surprise!). The concert we went to was absolutely lovely and was a real highlight for me.
Also, there was (lovely) complimentary cake every single day which was definitely very inspirational whilst you were assessing the hill in front of you.
What did you think of your group leader?
They were both excellent. I don't think I've ever encountered such exceptional organisation skills! Every possible requirement or eventuality was planned and communicated with the group. They managed the different requirements and abilities of the group very well and, on top of all that, were both lovely (which really helped when you were contemplating the chair lift!)
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
If possible, try and plan to take some time in Innsbruck (which has some really interesting places to visit) and Munich.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
This is the perfect holiday if you're not too sure which grade you'd like to do. You can pick whether you want a bit of a challenge or a slightly more relaxed pace depending on how you are feeling. It also works out really well in terms of cost as breakfast and evening meals are included (and they are vast) which means I spent a lot less than I normally would on a trip.
Basically, it's really beautiful with some excellent walking. I hope to go back as soon as possible!

I was really nervous at going on a walking holiday by myself but Chris and Bob were amazing, the hotel was great and the walks were fantastic. Would totally recommend - think I'll be going back!
What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
So many great times - climbing over the border from Austria to Italy, crossing the snowfield, going up in the ski lift (despite it looking so scary and never having been in one before I absolutely loved it!), just being part of a group of people all having a great time doing amazing walks etc. Couldn't decide what favourite walk was but being at top of Peilspitze was incredible, but every day was great!
What did you think of your group leader?
Chris and Bob were both fantastic. They were so knowledgeable about the local nature, the flowers, the history and everything else! They put everyone at ease and were great walking companions too. They were so well-organised and everything just fell into place.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
The trip notes were really useful - everything you needed to know was there!
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Thank you, the holiday was great and totally what I needed. Having 2 groups meant that you could choose a walk to suit how you felt that day. The mountain huts were great for lunch. Totally recommend.
The alpine scenery is absolutely beautiful. It was an especially good time to visit at the beginning of July because of all the flowers. After conquering a peak walking back down beside the alpine meadows was a delight.
What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
I would say all of the walks had something special about them but what I did love was the complete peacefulness, clean air, scenery and cow bells it was like something out of a film!
What did you think of your group leader?
Chris and Bob were excellent leaders. They were really experienced and organised. The walk briefings the evening before were very thorough so you knew exactly what was involved. They were very knowledgeable about the local area. They had great communication skills with the group. In our group everyone got on fine but if you had one or two difficult members you could tell that Chris and Bob would be able to deal with them.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
One of the reasons I booked this trip was that there was no single supplement and breakfasts and evening meals were included so it was good value. The room although a bit on the small side was clean and comfortable. Having a sauna was a bonus and helped ease aches and tiredness at the end of the day. The food was excellent there was plenty of it and it was fresh and tasty. The Hotel staff were lovely, really hard working and pleasant.
The only disappointing things I would say is that we were a small group - 9 of us. We all got on well but I think it would have been nice to have a few similar aged people to me (I was the youngest there and I'm 36). Overall though I would definately recommend this trip the scenery was spectacular and you are really well looked after.

A memorable week - good value, excellent walk leaders, interesting company and plenty of food!
What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Steadily zig-zagging up a steep slope and finding the most amazing flower-strewn meadow opening up in front of us, surounded by higher peaks on all sides, was a real 'Maria' moment. There may have been singing... Actually, all the views were spectacular, and I loved watching how they changed and developed as we walked. We had slightly mixed weather, so we saw the mountains in cloud and rain as well as sunlight and shadow. But the single most inspirational moment of the whole holiday was the achievement of one member of our group who conquered her fear of going in a chairlift.
What did you think of your group leader?
Bob and Chris were fantastic leaders. They are both very experienced and Bob in particular knows Trins so well that he's practically gone native. They worked together well and although their personalities are quite different I very much enjoyed walking with both of them and found them both to be good sources of information and encouragement.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
If having a reliable internet connection is important to you, make sure you ask for a room in the main building. And do read the trip notes before you go - you will need clothes for absolutely every type of weather.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
This was my first group walking holiday and I ended up really pleased with what I'd achieved during the week. I certainly got to a load of wonderful places that I would have been too lazy to tackle on my own. The flexibility of the two-group structure was an added bonus as it meant that my husband could dash competitively up the various summits while I had the chance to look around at the views, admire the alpine flowers and arrive at a more considered pace. I would definitely recommend this holiday and would love to go back. I've been at home for two days now and England seems rather flat...
A perfect introduction to walking in Austria - left me with the inspiration to do more. I don't know why it's taken me so long to go there. Excellent idea to have two grades of walks on the same trip.
What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Every day was an inspiration - mountains, mountains, and more mountains. Even the view from the bedroom was full of mountains. And so few people - we certainly didn't get the crowds you often met on some UK tops.
What did you think of your group leader?
Bob and Chris are a great double act. Both very knowledgeable about the area and both experienced walk leaders. Keeping the group safe and involved seemed to be their prime objective - as well as giving each of us the holiday we wanted.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
If you ask for a single room, you might want to check out if you have been allocated room 202. It's VERY small. This might not be an issue for some, but could be for others.
Remember what goes up must come down. Long ascents can mean long steep descents, so be prepared if you are prone to knee problems.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
I had a great time. An injured foot meant I had to downgrade to group B walks (normally a slow but steady C group walker), but I didn't feel I lost out on the Austrian walking experience. A very relaxing holiday - a great sociable group helped (I hope you are as lucky as I was).
