an excellent walking holiday in beautiful mountains - good use of local transports allows access to other valleys - having a choice of 2 grades of walking each day is a really good idea and should be used on other holidays.  It was also a real bonus to have 6 days of walking.  On a holiday which is only a week, I often find it frustrating to have a rest day and it was great that this trip did not have one.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

No heart stopping single moment.  Just a series of wonderful mountain walks with great views

What did you think of your group leader?

Both leaders were excellent.  Very experienced and worked well as a team.  They alternated leading B and C walks which worked really well.  The organisation and descriptions of the walks were accurate which gave the group confidence to choose the right grade walk on a daily basis.

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

the hotel bedrooms tend to face the road and although a small village, there is traffic so if you are likely to be disturbed by the noise, take earplugs.  Also the curtains are not that heavy so do not filter much light so an eye shade might be useful.

Is there anything else you would like to add?
this is an excellent location for a week of walking; not having a forced rest day is great so you can do 6 days of walking; the two leaders - two grades system worked really well and some members of the group did swap between B and C grade walking through the week

Great walking in a very beatiful area, it was lovely to see so many flowers normally only seen earlier in the year in other areas. Afternoon tea was an added pleasure

Trins is a great location to explore the mountains and enjoy fantastic scenery. It is also a great place to observe local rural life and feel you are in a small way contributing to its survival.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

Getting up high enough to see the mountains properly.

    Walking through Alpine meadows.

    Exploring rural villages.

What did you think of your group leader?
Both Chris and Bob were knowlegable, well organised and enthusiastic leaders.Having two leaders allowed for two grades of walk each day. This was ideal for our family of mixed fitness!
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

Take clothes for every type of weather-cold,wet,warm,sunny-we had it all in the week and were glad we had packed light weight and heavier jackets.

The wild flowers were still good in August but they must be brilliant earlier in the summer.

Probably the most enjoyable Exodus holiday I have had so far! Great walks in a fantastic location with beautiful views and plenty of wild flowers.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Watching chamois on two (!) occasions, daily urge to sing "the hills are alive with the sound of music" - views were that spectacular, especially Portjoch - the Italian border with South Tirol and the walk to Tribulauhutte. 4-course dinners at the hotel were delicious and wonderfully presented.
What did you think of your group leader?
Bob and Chris are fantastic: easy-going, quirky and very good story-tellers! As I had most of my walks with Bob, I have to mention his excellent knowledge of the wild flowers, local history and geology and his amazing ability to spot chamois and marmots at an impressive distance.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Ear plugs for Sunday morning only, as the rest of the week the Church bells ring much quieter; definitely a fleece or jumper  to put on or a spare top to change to when stopped for a break or lunch. The digital camera charger and enough memory space to put your mind at easy - there are so many views, animals and flowers to photograph.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
We had a very good bunch of people from all walks of life. I felt rather lucky with the fellow travellers. Great holiday all around!

An excellent holiday in a lovely country. Good walking, good food, and the best Exodus group I have walked with on a European  trip. Wild flowers galore. 50 years since I last walked in Austria, so lots of very happy memories were revived.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

Over the top into Italy on Portjoch

What did you think of your group leader?
Chris Burke and Bob Mason  two excellent leaders, and great organisers. Made all the walks very pleasurable.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Follow the advice already given on this Review site. Do take a warm hat and gloves and top quality wet weather gear. You will need them and always take them on each walk.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
I had a very sad and unsettling 2010, and this holiday gave me a great boost and I arrived home refreshed and happy and ready to face the rest of 2011. This was due to the two leaders and the group. In spite of a mixed age range and walking abilities  lots of laughs and great good humour was enjoyed by all of us on this holiday.

Austria in July is great for wild flowers, good weather without being too hot to walk, and stunning views of snow-topped mountains.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Getting to the top of each mountain and looking at the view all the way down to the valley floor and across to other snowy mountains.
What did you think of your group leader?

Both our leaders were extremely helpful, good company and careful leaders.

Bob's interest and knowledge of wild flowers, birds and the Austrian way of life was very helpful.

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

Do check in the trip notes that you know how many metres you will walk daily. Because the brochure mentions there will be ski lifts and local buses, I had not anticipated that each and every walk would involve a climb of 800 meters every day. However the climbs are gradual and do-able.

The earlier you book, the better the room  you will have in the hotel.  Rooms at  the back of the annexe hear the church bells for 5 minutes at 6.00am and 6.00 pm every day!

There is only 1 ski lift locally which does not operate unless Exodus argues for it once a week . This is new since the brochure was published.
