Most enjoyable. But remember to take awoolly hat and gloves - it can turn cold!

The best walking holiday of the four that I have done over the last couple of years.  A great location, good food, excellent leaders and, above all, a fantastic group of people.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Walking over the Portjoch onto the 'balcony path' just inside the Italian border with views of the snow-topped Marmolada and famous ridges in the Dolomites in the distance.
What did you think of your group leader?
Bob and Chris were both excellent at organising and leading the walks and all other aspects of the trip.  Between them they had very good knowledge of the local area, German language, local politics, wildlife, flowers and geology - all of which added to the interest and enjoyment of the holiday.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
As others have said, warm clothing may be needed as it can suddenly turn cold at altitude even when the day has started apparently warm.  Also be careful about the strength of the sun.  Be aware that if you are 'follicly challenged' like me, then you need a hat that will stay on when you get strong wind and sun at the same time!
Is there anything else you would like to add?

I booked quite late and therefore ended up staying at an alternative hotel nearby but with all meals (including breakfast) taken with the group in the Hotel Wienerhof.  This was hardly any inconvenience and as I had travelled to Trins by car was actually an advantage for me as the other hotel has a large car park (some parking is available at the Wienerhof but there are a limited number of spaces).

A very enjoyable trip. Beautiful scenery in a little known part of Austria, with a very enthusiastic and knowledgable guide.  Good food, good company, another great Exodus experience.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

Stunning views from the summit of Blaser (2244m) across several valleys, beating the C grade walkers to the summit, and enjoying the most delicious goats cheese platter at the mountain hut (after seeing the pretty alpine goats on the mountain side).

Also distant sightings of chamois on the final day, making up for walking all day in the rain!

What did you think of your group leader?
Bob was extremely knowledgable, enthusiastic and passionate about this lovely part of Austria.  And we enjoyed Chris's quiet, dry humour.  They were a good double act!
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

Don't underestimate the weather in the mountains.  It can be glorious sunshine one minute and torrential rain/hailstones the next!  Be prepared for all eventualities - hat and gloves needed even in July!

Is there anything else you would like to add?
The choice of B and C grade walks each day worked very well.  It was nice to choose a slightly easier or more challenging walk each day, and to enjoy the different company of the two groups and guides.

There are two great things about this trip - the two grades of walk offered each day giving a real choice of difficulty and the stunning scenery at every turn.  This was my first trip to the Alps or any mountains and I am now hooked

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

1 The incredible ride up from Steinach by gondola and then chairlift with amazing views up the valley to Trins

2 The carpets of wildflowers both rare and common - like walking through a tapestry

3 All the views - impossible to pick a favourite

What did you think of your group leader?
Two leaders - Bob Mason and Chris Burke.  Both well organised, professional, funny and kind.  Coped with both novice and very experienced walkers and helped the group to gel quickly.  Great knowledge of history, geology and wildfowers
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

1 If you are not used to walking up very steep hills you will find the C walks hard but the B walks are still beautiful.

2 If taking this trip in Summer take swimwear for a dip in the Lichtersee, a natural infinity pool conveniently situated by a lunchstop.

3 Take plenty of insect repellent and anti-histamines if you are at all allergic, there are many horseflies in July and they bite!

Is there anything else you would like to add?
The hotel is good and food excellent and plentiful but only one showergel and shampoo is provided for the whole week - take your own or be prepared to buy locally.  The sauna and hot cabins are great and the masseuse is excellent.

A very enjoyable trip, with a choice of walks each day and a nice hotel to come back to. The food was good and plentiful.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
There were a lot of great moments; the one I enjoyed the most was the ridge walk from the top of the chair lift to the summit of Leitnerberg. Blaser and Padasterjoch were good too, especially getting a glimpse of a chamois from the latter.
What did you think of your group leader?
Bob and Chris were very experienced and friendly leaders, and knew the area very well. Bob was very good at identifying the flowers (especially orchids), of which there were far more than I expected at that time of year. On the days we used public transport, they managed to always get us to the bus on time without ever seeming to hurry us along.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

1 Take some soap, as the hotel doesn't always provide it (although you can always buy some from the supermarket opposite if you forget)

2 The local church rings its bells at 6am every morning, so if you're a light sleeper ear plugs might come in handy.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Tea and cakes at the hotel after the walks was very welcome!

Trins is very easy to reach by public transport, so this is a great trip for adding on independent travel at either end. As well as Innsbruck and Munich, it's easy to get to Salzburg and Bolzano (home of Oetzi, the "ice man"); the latter might even be possible as a day trip.

A thoroughly enjoyable trip, especially with 2 grades of walking available.  Beautiful scenery,  a good variety of walks, excellent hotel and food and a very relaxed atmosphere all round.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

Reaching the top of the Portjoch and crossing the border to Italy with stunning views to the Dolomites off in the distance, and summiting Blaser with its 360 degree panoramic views all round, and goats cheese platter in Blaser Hutte, made from the milk of the goats grazing at the top of the mountain.

The Trins concert band and Gschnitz dance troupe evening was also good fun.

What did you think of your group leader?
Both Chris and Bob were very good leaders, and very supportive when I was slowed down by niggling injuries.  It was really interesting to have local flora and fauna pointed out along the way (vanilla orchids being my personal favourites) and the rapport that both had with the locals was good to see.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Take blister plasters and all the medication you might need as you won't get any in the village, and try the Edelweiss Weizenbier in the hotel rather than just asking for "a beer".  Also, learning a little German before you go will get you a long way.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
This is a particularly good trip for anyone not certain of their fitness for C grade walking, or for couples/families who have different abilities.  The hotel is perfect for the purposes of the trip, public transport works well and between 4 course evening meals, kaffee und kuchen at the end of the walk and the food available at the mountain huts, it also fits the bill as a culinary extravaganza.  Highly recommended.

A one centre based walking holiday in a beautiful Austrian village, staying at a friendly hotel, and with the benefit of 2 excellent Exodus guides giving alternative B or C walks, made this a perfect walking break in wonderful scenery.  Enjoyed it so much I am considering doing it all again.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
The scenery is just so beautiful and the walks ensured we enjoyed many stunning views, making some steep climbs well worth the effort.
What did you think of your group leader?
This trip is great - as you have the benefit of two leaders - BOGOF!  Bob and Chris complement each other. Bob's attention to detail to ensure everyone is well looked after and having a great time was brilliant.  His knowledge of the area, particularly the flowers, could not be bettered.  Chris's easy manner made his walks easy going even when the path was steep.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
If you are not sure if you are a B or C walker - this is the perfect option.  You can choose each day depending on how you feel.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
The Weinerhof serves excellent food and plenty of it.  Add that to the great lunches on offer at mountain huts meant that despite the walking I have lost not an ounce
