Was a bit concerned that the holiday would not live up to the description but i was wrong, it turned out to be the best holiday experience i have had to date.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

Reaching the top of the pass on my own and having the view to myself for a few minutes was amazing, to enjoy the peace and the surroundings was the best part of the trip for me, however the whole experience including the long hours of travelling was very enjoyable.

What did you think of your group leader?

This was only my second trip with Exodus and the staff on both trips have been great, they never stop working and undoubtedly made both trips an experience to remember, this alone would make me use Exodus again.

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
A lot of travelling on this trip but do not let that put you off as this became a big part of the holiday as well as the trekking, the leader was very informative and we saw and experienced a lot of that part of India. If the leader says that may be a good idea to get up early to get the best view then do it as the mountains as big as they are can disappear within minutes not to be seen again that day, we however were very lucky with the weather and had fantastic views for the whole time.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
From start to finish this was a great holiday, it was truely a plane, train and automobile experience, the places we stayed, the campsites the staff all added to the success of the trek.

Nanda Devi and Trisul trek involves 2 days of train/bus travel at either end to access the trail head from Delhi followed by 10 days moderate trekking in forested/undulating terrain - significant altitude gain and loss occurs each day. The days are not long - no more than 6 hrs on the trail and on some days as little as 3 due to limits on available camping sites- if that could be resolved the trek could be shortened 2-3 days easily. The camp sites are typically meadows and exploring the areas around them can be rewarding. Remote villages, beyond the road system are encountered most days and the trail itself is mostly well constructed stone paths. Birdlife and ( in May) wild flowers are in abundance but wild animals are rare. The mountains are only glimsed most days , until day 9 and 10 which for me were the highlight.Titling the trek as "Nanda Devi and Trisul" is somewhat misleading as Nanda Devi is visible only on day 9 &10 and then only if cloud cover is not present whereas Trisul is frequently visible.Overall  a great experience especially the remote villages, wild flowers and bird life, though not the alpine experience I had imagined....

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

It was a very well balanced trek with a similar amount of effort expended on each day. The Kuari pass was shrouded in snow so we did not see the  spectacular views. The simplicity of life in the villages was inspiring especially the children in a local school.

What did you think of your group leader?
Dibs Buck was an outstanding tour leader...knowledgeable and good fun too. I felt he was in complete control and could have handled any disaster that may have befallen the group whilst we were on trek. He gave everyone on the trek( some difficult and demanding characters) an equal amount of his time and attention and was MUCH more professional and proficient than other tour leaders I have had on similar Grade C treks with Explore, Exodus and KE Adventure Travel.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Eat vegetarian only and if you stick to busy local restaurants with a high turnover of food you won't get sick. Be prepared for long mornings of continuous steep up and  steep descents
Is there anything else you would like to add?
A table is needed in the mess tent and the tent should have been bigger for 18 people as it was very claustrophobic at meal times. The single tents had problems with flooding and the zips were broken These tents are iadequate and need to be replaced immediately. The hotel in Sringar was absolutely TERRIBLE and should not be used.....it was filthy, there was no hot water in any of the rooms on the return trip. I would have preferred to camp in the street.

    Exodus Response

I thank Ms Cowdray for her review and am glad that she enjoyed the trip and was impressed with our leader.

I apologise that the hotel in Srinigar did not reach her expectations however we have used this hotel, the best in the local area, for many years and have not had problems with it before. I will keep an eye on feedback regarding this hotel and will make changes if necessary.

    Regards,

    Katherine Tory, India Trip Manager
