Countries Visited: India
Walking through the rolling hills and countryside of India's colourful state, plus a camel safari into the desert

The landscape of Rajasthan is extremely varied, ranging from the desert sand dunes to the lofty hills of the Aravallis. These little-visited hills are one of the oldest ranges in the world and are ideal for trekking. There are beautiful meadows, dense forests, lakes and waterfalls as well as an array of birdlife. We also visit the historic Kumbhalgarh Fort, the Jain Temples of Ranakpur and of course the romantic Taj Mahal. Taking to camels, we journey across the shimmering sands and camp under the desert stars. Our destination is Pushkar, a bewitching town that is an important pilgrimage centre with a serene atmosphere that we have time to absorb. In October the trip will be in Pushkar for the wonderful sight of the world famous Camel Fair.
