A wonderful experience in very good company. Would recommend this trip to anyone.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

The magnificent views of the desert mountains stretching off into the immensity.

    Genuine isolation-no other tourists!

The setting sun colouring the mountains bright orange.

What did you think of your group leader?
Superb-highly knowledgable and a good laugh
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

A Thermarest chair would be useful in the evening for aching backs.

    A good sleeping mat

Bring a lighter to burn used toilet roll!

Is there anything else you would like to add?
Be prepared for a harsh, primeval landscape of giant boulders and soaring rock formations, with mountain ridge after ridge fading into the distant haze.

A great trek in the mountains, visiting and camping by remote villages. Fantastic food and great evenings in the communal tent.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

Awestruck by the night sky. Friendliness of the local villagers. Singing and dancing with our muleteers.

What did you think of your group leader?
The leader, cook and muleteers were all very friendly and made the holiday so much more enjoyable.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

The terrain can be very uneven, so a good pair of boots is essential. The iodised water is not very pleasant, so if you have room in your bag, get a few bottles of water in Taroudant to last the first few days. Most locals don't like their photo being taken, so always ask permission first.

  • Amazing experience, well off the beaten track.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

Seeing the night sky filled with stars from the remote mountains was amazing and nothing like the view from GB.

Knowing we were the only people for many miles around was amazing, and not meeting anyone else but locals for a week reinforced how remote it is.

What did you think of your group leader?

Yaya is a really knowledgable local.  He was happy to talk candidly about all aspects of Morocco and joined in with the group fully.  His rapport with the villagers we met was clear and was able therefore to show us a few 'behind the scenes' slices of Moroccan life.

The guide in Taroudant was helpful and courteous but the trip to the market seemed a fairly biased tour of his friends stalls!

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

Bring a good thermarest mattress and the thing to make it into a seat.  A pack of cards was a good call for the evenings too.

Is there anything else you would like to add?
A truly fantastic holiday, not relaxing, but really worthwhile.  There's only a few landmarks, wildlife or symbols of Moroccan culture to see, but the mountains are spectacular in themselves and well worth the trip to really get among them.

What did you think of your group leader?
    Excellent
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
take plenty of comforts, thick sleeping mat, chair, warm clothes, chocolate
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Much more basic than I was led to expect from the brochure. Memorable holiday, though

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

The "wilder" camps in the middle of nowhere, getting up in the middle of the night for a natural break and sitting spell-bound for ages just watching the stars, and a fair few shooting stars as well.

Watching the dawn come up over a hill shaped like a tagine cooking pot.

Visiting several local people's homes and drinking sweet mint tea.

What did you think of your group leader?
Mustapha was a great inspiration, very knowledgeable and very good company.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

Iodised water doesn't taste too wonderful, though you do get (sort of) used to it after a few days.

I flavoured mine with some oral rehydration powder (blackcurrant variety) diluted very weakly.

One more seasoned traveller, rather cleverly, brought some orange-flavoured fizzy vitamin C tablets, which worked well - even if it did look like the water had already been drunk once!!

Is there anything else you would like to add?

A great trek, with some quite adventurous bits - but nothing too scary. The oldest member of our group was about 62, and he coped OK.

Do bear in mind that the first and last day are spent travelling, and that day two is partly travel and partly spent in a town (which I could have maybe done without), so the actual trek is really five days.

Nevertheless, you get to climb a quite impressive mountain, visit some pretty "oasis" towns, and explore numerous hills and valleys on a trek during which you are VERY unlikely to meet anyone outside your group, other than local people.

Overall, a very enjoyable holiday and I think it was quite encouraging that quite a number of the group had been on one or more Exodus holidays before and they all agreed that the holidays are well organised and good value.

    THANK YOU EXODUS !!!

  • The world to ourselves

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

Sense of having the entire mountain area to ourselves as we didn't encounter any other tourists during the trek.

What did you think of your group leader?
The group leader was a great ambassador for the area and clearly well informed with regard to the local culture and customs.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
The terrain can be quite rough in parts so trekking poles would be quite helpful.   Also worth investing in a back-rest that can be used with the Thermarest - it makes sitting in the communal tent much more comfortable!
