Easily the best holiday I've done to date. Trekking is a fantastic way to travel. Exodus is a very well organised company and I was very impressed with the correspondence ahead of the trip.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
It's hard to say, it may sound too obvious, though, the day we done the peak of Toubkal would probably be it; though again, all the scenery throughout the trip was impressive. I was surprised how well everyone in the group got on, having reasonably similar interests, which made the trip even more enjoyable.
What did you think of your group leader?
Hassan had a great sense of humour, and, also well organised, keeping us informed of any thing we needed to know.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
If, like me, you're not used to having breakfast, having something you can snack on while walking is quite handy. I also noticed a few of our group had crocs (or similar rubber slip on shoes) and, although I had previously wrote these off as a fashion disaster, they did seem perfect for around the camp site.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Finally climbing up Mt Toubkal was the most memorable time of the trip but actually all the way just as good.
What did you think of your group leader?
Our group leader was a very nice berber man who has great temper and very proud of his country. Taught us very interesting things about the Berbers. Looked after everybody and was never tired to help. Was open minded to our special requests and supported us in harder moments. Very good English and good humour.

Next time I would take my own mattress as extra layer as the one provided wasn't quite thick enough for me...

Overall, an excellent trip and as described.  We had good weather, a really nice group of people (aged from 20-64), 5 days of fantastic walking, stunning scenery and impressive catering.  I really enjoyed myself and would definitely recommend this trip!

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

    - The second night of camping in the middle of the nowhere, with a beautiful sunset followed by a stunning view of the stars with a clear sky and no light pollution.

    - Arriving at Toubkal mountain refuge and finding hot showers AND sit down toilets!

    - Enjoying the fantastic lunches and dinners prepared by the local staff.

    - Oh, and the last 100 yards of the ascent to the top of Mt Toubkal were pretty special too!

What did you think of your group leader?
I thought Yahia was an excellent group leader - clearly knew what he was doing, kept us all moving at an appropriate pace, and got on well with everyone in our group and everyone we seemed to meet in Toubkal National Park and beyond.   Came across as a genuinely good guy!
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

    - There appears to be a complete absence of small change in Morocco (and/or the locals appear to be quite shrewd!), so change your money into smaller denomination notes and coins (10s, 20s and 50s) if at all possible.

     - Recommend you bring a travel pillow and ear plugs.  Even with these you're unlikely to get much sleep though, but guess that's part of the experience and didn't detract from my enjoyment of the trip.

    - I really enjoyed the food and considering how remote we were for much of the time, the standard of catering was superb.  However, if you're a fussy eater and/or have specific dietary requirements, then this may not be the trip for you - suggest you investigate carefully first.  Even with the excellent food though, it's well worth bringing extra energy bars, kendall mint cake, peanuts, etc  with you - or maybe I just eat a lot!

    - Be brave, try the 'tomato jam' at breakfast time :-)

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Only downside for me (and tbh it didn't spoil the trip) was the standard of some of the tents we were provided with - they generally weren't in great condition, and some of them had broken zips / entrances.  When you're camping at 3200m up and it's very windy outside, a tent which doesn't close up properly is not ideal and is possibly even a little dangerous. I spent much of the 4th night wide awake wondering if my tent was going to blow away.

Also, British Airways cancelled the first leg of my outbound flight from Glasgow to London Gatwick, resulting in me getting diverted via Amsterdam and Casablanca and arriving 9 hours late - thanks BA!  Credit though to the Exodus out-of-hours helpline for informing our guide and rearranging my airport transfer (was picked up at 2am no problem at all).  All other travel arrangements on the trip were impeccable.

Getting to the top of Mt Toubkal was amazing. The views were great and overall it was a brilliant experience. There was a 60 year woman on our trip and she made it to the top.

The trip was a wonderful experience. The weather put a bit of a dampener on things, but that's always the risk with outdoors activities. On the first day of the trek it was misty and drizzly, and then it started hammering down. The next two days were mostly lovely and warm, and we got some lovely views. We were fighting snow, winds and freeeeezing temperatures on our climb up Toubkal, which was apparently very exceptional for the time of year. It was a great group of people and an experience I'll never forget!

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Getting to the top of Toubkal was pretty great, especially as I was frozen solid and pretty tired. But unfortunately there were no views to give us the top of the world feeling!
What did you think of your group leader?
Hassan was great. Friendly, informative, helpful.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Go prepared for all weathers, it's cold at the top - especially if snowing! I was nervous about my fitness, but coped absolutely fine. To put this into context I do aerobics once a week, and run 5km, so am not exactly wonderwoman. I wasn't sure how I would find walking at altitude, I only noticed any effects above the Neltner refuge at Toubkal base camp. I noticed that while walking slowly I was breating rather fast. At one point I tripped over a rock, which interrupted my breathing and found myself gasping for air. Hassan was amazing, he ran back and helped me to breathe steady again and I got my breath back. Concentrate on where you put your feet! If you're new to altitude don't worry, just walk slowly and steadily.

One thing that did let the holiday down was the condition of the tents. While the downpour on the first night was unexpected, and no one's fault, the tents were in no fit state to deal with it. There were holes in fly sheets and ground sheets, and the guy ropes were so knotted that the fly sheet could not be held away from the inner, meaning rain came stright through. We were told the tents were due to be replaced. So I hope Exodus will consider replacing tents more often. The tradional matresses used by Exodus would have been lovely - but when sodden they provided no comfort at all, and unlike rollmats or thermarests they soaked up and held onto water.  It is unlikely to happen to you, but if rain is forcast I would consider bringing a thermarest. Also two of the groups bags broke en route to the trek (broken zip, and bottom came out of bag), if I go again I will be buying my own kit bag!

The second night at Toubkal Refuge Exodus provided us with buks in the refuge. While very basic and crowded it was such a relief as it was pouring down again, and some of the tents were in their own lake! We woke up the following morning to find our tent had collapsed in the wind and snow! Phew!

I wasn't too keen on the time in Marrakesh, especially as the tour notes had said there would be a tour of the souks - and this was not running. I am not a city person, so would have preferred another day trekking.

I don't mean to sound like I am grumbling, because it was the most awesome holiday ever. Had the weather been better I cannot imagine how great it would be! If you are going towards the end of the season go prepared for anything!

An excellent trek at a very reasonable price.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
The highlight was definitely reaching the summit of Toubkal but the views throughout the trek are spectacular and it’s hard to pick just one thing. The climb to the summit Ouanakrim was also was also great fun (a little more scrambling required than for Toubkal) and well worth the early start.
What did you think of your group leader?
Hassan was fantastic, very well organised, very funny and always looking out for our safety.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

The second summit (Ouanakrim) was optional for us and did involve an early start but it was really worth it - would strongly recomend you sacrifice the potential lie in for what is one of the highlights of the trek.

Unbelievable views and walking through a spectacularly beautiful country. Go for it!

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Getting to meet new and interesting people and the summit.
What did you think of your group leader?

Our leader Abdullah was knowledgeable, very personable and extremely trustworthy.  Three traits I found to be invaluable and comforting given how much you depend on them during the more remote sections of the trip.

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

Only 1, get change in the form of coins and small notes.  Nobody outside of Marrakech will take 100Dh or 200Dh notes as they can't change it.  Even our Hotel didn't want them when trying to buy water.

Also take a Platipus/Camelbak type hydration system as there are sections of long decent which both hands free for 3 - 4 hours and dehydration in the Atlas environment is too easy.

Is there anything else you would like to add?
Just go for it, I can promise you will not regret it.
