A winter escape traversing the wild desert landscape of Morocco's Jebel Sahro
When snow closes the High Atlas to all but winter enthusiasts, the beautiful Jebel Sahro, on the fringes of the Sahara, is a great destination. This is a lunar landscape of jagged peaks and rocky plateaux with forests of volcanic pillars and deep canyons. Mud-walled Berber kasbahs guard scattered oases of date palms, figs and orange trees. On our trek we hike to summits and high passes rewarding us with superb views of the snow-covered High Atlas range and the sub-Sahara. This is a trek for those who like their scenery wild and dramatic.
