Grade D
The terrain on this trek varies hugely, from good clear trails used by locals to lesser-used narrow rock, shale and scree routes over high passes. There are many high passes, several long demanding days and some narrow trails.
This trek is recommended for those who are confident of their physical fitness and have previous experience of trekking at high altitude. They should be confident walking on rough terrain and across sometimes narrow exposed scree slopes. The second half of the trek is extremely remote and facilities minimal, so a sense of adventure is definitely required.
Please note that pass names and heights very considerably across different maps and that the existing maps are not always accurate . Pass names and heights used in these trip notes are based on a detailed 'recce' carried out in spring 2010 by expert mountaineer and Nepal Base Manager Valerie Parkinson. Furthermore, as a result of unseasonal snowfall which can occur any time of year passes may become blocked. In such circumstances it will be necessary for the leader and guide to use alternative passes.
This is a fully-supported camping trek.
Normal group size and age
Normally 6 to 14, plus leader and appropriate local staff. Minimum age 18.

The vast majority of Exodus adventures are adult group holidays. Groups are always small in size. We strongly believe that this adherence to small groups means a better experience for all; more time with your guide, less waiting around and a reduced impact on the communities and environments visited.
Each group is generally made up of like-minded travellers - with singles, couples and friends all joining in together.
All these trips are suitable for single travellers, but if you prefer to travel with clients booking individually, please
see our Solo Departures page.
Those experienced in trekking for a number of consecutive days in the Scottish Highlands, will understand how tough treks at this grade can be – stamina is essential, as walking days are long. We recommend previous trekking experience, preferably at altitude; you need complete confidence in your physical condition and the ability to trek for many days over difficult terrain.
