Trek to the magnificent Inca ruins of Machu Picchu and discover the unique wildlife of the Galapagos Islands

On this two-part itinerary we first visit the Inca heartland of Peru, discovering the archaeological sites and stunning scenery of Cuzco and the Sacred Valley before starting out on the famous Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.
The trek takes us over high passes and to Inca temples and fortresses before we arrive at the famous 'lost city'. In complete contrast, we explore the amazing flora and fauna of the Galapagos Archipelago, accompanied by experienced naturalist guides.
Our sleep-on-board cruise on a small motor yacht allows us access to areas larger boats cannot reach and also has minimal environmental impact.
Moonstone Trek Option
We now offer the Moonstone Trek as a fantastic, more challenging and isolated alternative to the Inca Trail on this trip - and no permits are required! For more information please visit the Moonstone Trek Option page.
What makes this trip responsible?
On this trip, we operate a zero-impact policy on the Inca Trail, removing all waste from campsites and separating it so that it can easily be recycled or composted. Using a toilet tent at our lunch stops and in camp removes the need to dig holes at campsites. Our camp staff are paid a fair wage and receive all accommodation, transport and food during the trek. They are also trained and encouraged to put environmental protection practices into use in their own communities.
GALAPAGOS ISLANDS & KIYA SURVIVORS
In the Galapagos Islands, our yacht has been awarded Smart Voyager certification for meeting strict environmental standards and for its contribution to the crew and local communities. Whenever possible, the yacht uses its sails rather than motors to reduce carbon emissions, although strict National Park controls on landing times and landing sites do limit this practice.
The Rainbow Centre, Kiya Survivors
Kiya Survivors is a registered Peruvian charity providing safe and loving educational and rehabilitation centres for children with special needs. Their Rainbow Centre was the first school dedicated to special-needs children in the Sacred Valley and now 40 children attend regularly. Since the centre opened 10 years ago, Kiya Survivors has provided support to over 200 children as well as providing help on many social issues to other members of the local communities in which it works. Kiya Survivors at the Rainbow Centre is available to visit on almost all our trips that pass through Cuzco.
