Mountains, forests and Inca ruins on the road to Machu Picchu
The most famous trek in the Americas, this Inca Trail tour offers a unique and unrivalled combination of history and spectacular scenery. Winding its way from the powerful Urubamba River, across mountain passes and through cloud forests, the ancient Inca road passes several ruined fortresses before reaching the fabulous lost city of Machu Picchu. We use excellent local guides and skilled porters on the trek, and we enjoy a free day in Cuzco after the trek for more exploration or relaxation before the long flight home.
This Inca Trail walking holiday gives the opportunity to spend two days at Machu Picchu, rather than trekking straight into the ruins and leaving for Cuzco the same day. A particular highlight is the return on the second day for a dawn tour of the ruins, before the crowds of day trippers and trekkers arrive.

What makes this trip responsible?
Our local partners in Peru are extremely committed to staff welfare and to protecting the environment. We operate a zero-impact policy on the Inca Trail, removing all waste from campsites and separating it so that it can easily be recycled or composted. We take a toilet tent for use in camp and during lunch, removing the need to dig holes at campsites, and we never build fires at our campsites. Our camp staff (porters, cooks and mule wranglers where used) are paid a fair wage and receive all accommodation, transport and food whilst on the trek. They are also encouraged to put environmental protection practices into use in their own communities - regular training courses are held for all staff to increase their understanding of how to protect their natural and cultural heritage.
Kiya Survivors at the Rainbow Centre
Kiya Survivors is a registered Peruvian charity providing safe and loving educational and rehabilitation centres for children with special needs. It is the first school dedicated to special needs children in the Sacred Valley and now 40 children attend regularly. Since the centre opened, Kiya has provided support to over 200 children as well as providing help on many social issues to other members of the local communities in which it works.
