Reality Check
In 5 days of walking, we climb four summits, Aixorta (1160m), Serrella (1318m), Aitana (1558m) and Puig Campana (1410m) with approx 1000m of ascent on each of these days.
We take traditional footpaths and mule tracks and some cross-country terrain, giving us spectacular panoramic vistas, helping us to appreciate the size of these mountains and to get to know the geography of the coast.
Sierra Aitana is very rich in flora and fauna and along the walks we will see a great variety of birds and flowers. We visit springs, hilltop castles and snow wells (remains from the old snow industry). We descend into the valleys for the evening, where we have chosen 3 small village guesthouses for their character, the warmth of their welcome and convenience for access to the walks from the doorstep, thus minimising the use of vehicles.
The short distance to the coast (30-min by car) always allows us to escape on a free day to some quiet, secluded beach. The routes vary in length from 6½ to 8½ hours per day, giving plenty of time on some days to soak up the village life.
There are some long days, but overall the trip is classified as Grade B (moderate), although it should be noted that this is one of our tougher
Grade B treks. The majority of the paths we follow are footpaths and mule tracks with a gentle gradient, though we will walk on some quite rocky paths and do some sustained ascents/descents.
Luggage will be transported for you. Altitude maximum 1558m, average 1100m.
Normal group size and age
Min. 7, max. 14, plus leader. Minimum age 16.
Icons explained
The vast majority of Exodus adventures are adult group holidays. Groups are always small in size. We strongly believe that this adherence to small groups means a better experience for all; more time with your guide, less waiting around and a reduced impact on the communities and environments visited.
Each group is generally made up of like-minded travellers - with singles, couples and friends all joining in together.
All these trips are suitable for single travellers, but if you prefer to travel with clients booking individually, please
see our Solo Departures page.
No experience is necessary; those who take weekend hill walks in areas like the Peak District or Cotswold’s at home should manage a B-grade trek; good health and reasonable fitness are important. These Moderately graded departures are either fairly easy medium-duration walks or harder, shorter walks.
Walking & Trekking: Trips are wholly trekking-focused or simply include a significant number of walking days during the itinerary.
Wilderness: Visit the deserts, jungles, plateaux, tundra and mountains of all seven continents, including Antarctica.
Culture: Let Exodus show you a different side to many of the world's greatest cultural attractions.
