Frequently Asked Questions

About Your Trip

What kind of luggage should I take?

There's really no restiction, whatever feels comfortable for you. Whether that's a wheelie case or a rucksack, you won't be carrying it too far so don't worry!

Amanda Ceraolo - Product Manager

How difficult is the walking on Mallorca?

We usually walk between 4 and 7 hours per day. You will only need to carry your daysack, with a good supply of water and your picnic lunch. The footpaths are varied; mostly well marked and firm underfoot, but there are a few quite steep ascents and descents and the occasional easy scramble and unmarked section. Those prone to suffering vertigo should note that while safe, there are some steep drops on days 3 and 6 (only on C-grade departures). A reasonable level of fitness will definitely add to your enjoyment of this trip.

Can I make my own way to Puerto Soller?

The start hotel is approximately half an hour's drive from the airport, and if you're going to take a taxi then the cost will be about 55 Euros – there is no fixed fare, it goes on a taxi meter. You can also take a bus to Palma Center and then a bus or train to Puerto Soller. The bus is half an hour and it departs every 15-20 minutes. The train is a "turn of the century" train, old, made of wood - but an enjoyable journey! It takes a long hour to Soller, then another half an hour on the tram to Puerto Sóller (5 km away from Sóller) or a taxi.

What is the farm and monastery like?!

The Balitx farm is highly unusual, having mostly twin or double rooms with en suites, but also a four-floored tower with three rooms sharing a bathroom. The consensus is that the character and location of the place more than compensate for any unusual sleeping arrangements that may be involved for the two nights (depending on group size and make-up). Couples will be given twin rooms, and singles may be asked to share
with more than one other.
The monastery at Lluc, though not a hotel, accepts guests on a commercial basis. The food and rooms are excellent, all with en suite facilities.

Anna Dambrosia - Product Manager

Do I need to take walking poles?

If you are used to walking with poles then you can take them with you. They are not essential though and the walk is manageable without them. It is personal preference but do remember to pack them as part of your main luggage to be stowed in the hold.
