Itinerary
Day 1
Start at hotel in Puerto Soller (taxi costs Eur 60) or meet the group at Palma airport in time for the group transfer.
Day 2
We walk along the coast to the beautiful little bay of Cala Deiá, where we may have the chance to paddle in the turquoise sea of the bay. From here, we head inland towards one of the most beautiful villages in Mallorca, Deiá, owing to its idyllic setting in the hills. This 4-hour walk explores the delightful area between the mountains and the sea, using old tracks and paths over the cliffs and offers fantastic coastal views along the Mediterranean pinewoods and coastal shrubs. We stop for a picnic lunch along the way.
Day 3
We walk what is considered to be one of the most beautiful routes on the island. We take the tram to Soller and head towards the village of Biniaraitx. Here we follow a wonderful cobbled track, known as the Pilgrim Steps that originally went all the way from Soller to Lluc to connect the monastery with the port. We then join a small path up to the Mirador den Quesada, the high point of our day at 957m. This Mirador, or look out point, is at the summit of some particularly rocky outcrops known as the 'Cornadors', of which we will have had some stunning views on our ascent. We descend down past a mountain hut and through fields and forests of holly oak we follow a track to the centre of Soller, where we may stop for a drink before taking the tram back to Puerto Soller.
Day 4
A short day walk to the watchtower over Balitx, rewarded by one of the best views of the island. There is some free time in the afternoon for you to relax and enjoy the rural life.
Day 5
A short day walk to the watchtower over Balitx, rewarded by one of the best views of the island. There is some free time in the afternoon for you to relax and enjoy the rural life.
Day 6
Today we walk up from the farm to a col where the sea can be seen and then towards the coast at Sa Costera, an abandoned property in a delightful situation, on a headland overlooking the coast. We continue along the coast to reach the little bay of Cala Tuent after approximately 3-4 hours, where the bus will meet us for the transfer along the beautiful Sa Calobra road to the monastery.
Day 7
To really finish the trip on a high, today we set off to climb Puig d'en Galileu, at 1,181m, one of the island's highest peaks. The recently restored path to the top is beautiful and offers outstanding views across the dramatic Lluc valley and the peaks of Tomir and Roig.
C-Grade Weeks (Trips departing 24th Apr, 25th Sep)
Certain weeks have been highlighted as grade C, so more challenging walks and some easy scrambling can be enjoyed on this remarkable island. To include two of Mallorca's highest climbable peaks, Puig Tomir (1103m) and Puig Massanella (1352m), we stay one more night in Lluc Monastery (and one less in Balitx Farm).
Day 8
End at Lluc Monastery or transfer with the group back to Palma airport.
