An ascent of Mt Ararat, the highest peak in southern Turkey

Turkey has some of the most beautiful walking and trekking to be found anywhere.
The imposing peak of Mt Ararat, standing at 5165m, is perhaps the most mythical and awe-inspiring of Turkish trekking destinations. Over the years many have tried to confirm this extinct volcano as the final resting place of Noah's Ark.
More recent visitors are more focused on the stunning scenery and challenge that it offers.
The ascent of Mt Ararat is non-technical but requires a good level of fitness and the final (optional) summit ascent crosses both snow and ice. Here we may use ice axes and crampons, which are provided (with training if required), making this an intriguing and rewarding trip to one of the furthest corners of Europe.
What makes this trip responsible?
Walking is a fantastic way of experiencing an area while minimising your impact on the environment, our small group numbers also assist in limiting our negative impact on the area. Our local operator takes an active role in responsible tourism and twice a year they organise a group of volunteers to collect rubbish from the mountains. They also support a local school in Demirkazik village where they have donated computers, painted the building and planted cherry trees.
