CAPPADOCIA & THE TAURUS MOUNTAINS

Turkey has long been underrated as a trekking destination; its mountains are as spectacular and varied as anywhere in the world. We explore the unique volcanic landscape of Cappadocia, visiting ancient troglodyte dwellings, a fascinating underground city and the famous fairy chimneys. The trip then moves to the Ala Dag, in the heart of the Taurus Mountains, a rugged range of peaks and isolated valleys in central Turkey. The trek leads from high mountain pastures (yaylas), occupied by nomadic families after the snowmelt, to magnificent soaring peaks and deserted mountain lakes. With great walking, the friendly people, history and staggering scenery of this region will astound.
