Itinerary
Day 1
Arrival at Hope Valley, check in at hotel. Evening introduction with our leader for the weekend.
Day 2
After a hearty breakfast we set off early to catch a short train across the valley to the village of Edale where we begin our walk of the Kinder Scout Circuit.
The walking is on varied terrain through rolling hills and farmland for the first section and slowly leading into what the Peaks are famous for; peat-stained rocks, boggy valleys and winding mountain paths. Next up is Jacobs Ladder where the climb is short but steep and well worth it at the top as we are rewarded with sweeping views of the Valley of Edale.Walking along parts of the Pennine Way we continue to snake our way across the valley before arriving back to Edale in time to jump on a train for the short journey back to Hope Valley.
After dinner there will be the chance to hear more about exciting walking destinations around the world and to ask any questions you may have to our experience Exodus trekking guide.
Walk: Distance 12 miles Time: 5 to 6 hours plus lunch
Day 3
A slightly later start today as we head back to Edale, either by car or on the train, with this valley again providing the starting point for our walk. We make our way slowly across undulating moorland and steadily start to climb up onto the ridge until we reach Mam Tor, the High Peak of Derbyshire at 517m. Its name is said to mean 'mother hil', so called because frequent landslips on its eastern face have resulted in a multitude of 'mini-hills' beneath. After a blustery lunch stop we follow the winding Great Ridge path until we are rewarded with sweeping panoramic views across the valleys.Taking a steady pace down the ridge we are soon on our way back to Hope where we arrive in time for a quick freshen up and our goodbyes.
Walk: Distance 7.5 miles Time: 3 to 4 hours plus lunch
