A unique combination of walks along stunning coastal paths, ancient mule tracks and through lush green gorges with time for relaxing on secluded beaches

Crete's southwestern coast offers outstanding opportunities for walking in dramatic scenery, discovering remote coastal villages and exploring the legacies of previous civilisations. Travelling on foot, by local ferry and road we visit the spectacular gorges of the Lefka Ori Mountains including the famous Samaria Gorge, and walk along the dramatic E4 coastal path. We stay in three contrasting locations, each with a unique style and ambience. We start in the small but lively seaside resort of Paleochora and then move on to the picturesque white and blue fishing village of Loutro. We finish the week in the charming old harbour town of Chania, with enough time to explore the old town and markets.

Itinerary

Day 1	Fly to Chania; transfer to Paleochora.
Day 2	Walk from Azogires village to Anidri, descend to Anidri Beach via the Anydron Gorge; return to Paleochora on foot along the coast.
Day 3	Drive to Aghia Irini Gorge; walk to Sougia. Option to swim or visit the ancient site of Lissos by boat (time permitting). Return to Paleochora by ferry.
Day 4	To Aghia Roumeli by ferry; time to explore the lower reaches of the stunning Samaria Gorge, returning to Aghia Roumeli. Ferry to Loutro; afternoon free to explore village.
Day 5	Walk E4 coastal path from Loutro to Chora Sfakion, via the lovely Sweetwater Beach; return to Loutro by ferry.
Day 6	Walk from Loutro to Livaniana, then down lower Aradena Gorge to the sea at Marmara. Option of returning to Loutro by boat or on foot.
Day 7	Ferry to Chora Sfakion and drive on to Chania. Afternoon free to explore.
Day 8	Fly to London.
