Reality Check
This is an outstanding hut-to-hut trek through the highest part of the Julian Alps and the heart of the Triglav National Park. It is designed for experienced mountain walkers who want to enjoy the best of the Slovenian walking. Like all hut-to-hut treks, you will need to carry a little more than on a supported trek.
However, the nights high in these limestone mountains more than make up for the extra effort. There is an optional ascent of Mt Triglav, a non-technical 'via ferrata' and exciting scramble with some element of exposure.
Our week starts and finishes in Bled, a peaceful lakeside mountain town.
The trails in the Triglav National Park are generally well marked but can vary underfoot; the path will be uneven at times with loose stones. Fixed alpine ropes provided by the Alpine Association of Slovenia are found on trails when the ascent / descent may be steep; no previous experience is necessary when first using these. Each day will involve plenty of ascent and descent, up to 1000 metres on some days, some of these ascents will be steep.
The trek is graded C, the 'D' refers to the climb of Triglav which is optional. You should be confident in your fitness and walking ability. You will need to carry your gear for the duration of the trek, which if you pack carefully, should weigh no more than 12 kgs.
Normal group size and age
Normally 6 to 16, plus guide/s. Minimum age 18.
Icons explained
The vast majority of Exodus adventures are adult group holidays. Groups are always small in size. We strongly believe that this adherence to small groups means a better experience for all; more time with your guide, less waiting around and a reduced impact on the communities and environments visited.
Each group is generally made up of like-minded travellers - with singles, couples and friends all joining in together.
All these trips are suitable for single travellers, but if you prefer to travel with clients booking individually, please
see our Solo Departures page.
Fitness is important and you may have to improve yours before departure. Most treks at this grade compare to extended walking in mountainous terrain such as the Lakes of Snowdonia, but usually at significantly higher altitudes; climate and remoteness can also play a part. Previous trekking experience is desirable, but not vital if you are confident of your physical condition.

Walking & Trekking: Trips are wholly trekking-focused or simply include a significant number of walking days during the itinerary.
