A beautiful combination of coast, high mountains and fascinating culture in one superb walking week
Montenegro is developing into an exciting new destination. We start the week walking the old coastal routes with their stunning views of the ancient cities of Kotor and Budva. Kotor is a charming city set in Montenegro's most beautiful bay and was a centre for trading and sailing. We will also visit three National Parks, each with their own character. The scenery is incredibly varied, from the moonscape terrain of the Adriatic Coast, to the beautiful glacier lakes and rough scree covered slopes of the central high mountains. This area was isolated and fought over for centuries and has provided protection for its people, and enabled them to sustain their religion and traditions. Incredibly these same barren lands are also home to over 380 species of birds and over 1500 rare endemic flowers and herbs. Not only is this a country of incredible beauty, it is a place seemingly untouched by time. A walker's paradise.
