    A thoroughly enjoyable week.  The scenery and location cannot be bettered and the routes that are selected are excellent - you feel you are really in the mountains, yet the walking is not too onerous and the paths are all very well established.  But what makes the holiday special is your hosts who are a fantastic double act.

    We had an awesome holiday.  Not only was the scenery spectacular, especially for a european living in South Africa, but the co-travellers and the tour guide, Oliver Ensor and his wife Elaine, kept us entertained with great British humour.  With his guidance, every day was "the best day of my life".  Thanks a lot ,Oliver!!!

    Exodus have found a real gem in this chalet based holiday, run by Oliver and Elaine. The scenery was absolutely stunning, with Oliver providing plenty of local knowledge and excellent guiding skills. Elaine's sandwiches kept us going all day, with fabulous home cooked meals each evening.

    The savoy chalet is cosy and Elaine and Oliver (tourleader) are real stars.  The meals are really very nice and Elaine was looking after us like a mother.  The rooms are small, but you are only there to sleep. There is a lounge and another room where you can sit.  Maybe the 2 first weeks of June were still a bit too early in the season, certainly the first week.  Lifts and refuges (buvettes, cafés) are still closed and only will open 1 or 2 weeks later.  We were unfortunaltely with the weather, mist and rain.  We haven't seen the Mont Blanc, and the second week of June was the same.  The weather forecast for Chamonix is only changing to get better as from tomorrow on, so mid-june.  The walks were certainly ok, some steep climbs, which were maybe more difficult due to the weather conditions and the snow we had to cross over. It might have seemed more difficult then it was, due ot rain, mist and the cold.

    The walk up to Lac Blanc and the views from the top - the whole day was good, including getting up close to ibex.Also the view of the Aiguille Verte at sunset from the chalet.

    The realisation that the mountians can be so varied and there can be such contrast in vegetation and scenery (and indeed weather!) within a relatively small geographical area.

    What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

    Finally seeing the top of Mont Blanc on the last day - it having eluded us all week.  We had reached a refuge and just sat down to eat our lunch when the clouds cleared obliging us with a fantastic view.  It was the most perfect timing - our tour leader claimed credit but we were a bit dubious that even he couldn't control the weather!
