Reality Check
Grade: A/B This trip gives you the opportunity to walk amongst the Alps most magnificent big-mountain scenery without venturing onto difficult or strenuous terrain. Our routes have been selected to see and experience the most from our environment with respects to flora and fauna, and the geological and historical aspects as well as providing an enjoyable and relaxing break. Footpaths are mostly well graded and signposted however there are occasional moderately steep slopes to negotiate both in ascent and descent. An average level of fitness and some walking experience is advised, with the ability to walk on an undulating path for approximately 5 - 6 hours. The proposed walks are just some of many in the area and the leader may adapt them according to weather or other factors but will always select walks in character with the trip.
Group size and age
Min. 7, max. 16, plus leader. Minimum age 16.
Misc
Springtime Flowers
Our springtime departures allow us to see an abundant display of wild flowers benefiting from recent snow melt. As the winter snows retreat suddenly the meadows and pastures spring to life with an explosion of colour and vivacity. The ground comes alive as a flush of soldanellas and crocuses colour the hillsides. In the warmer sun-baked pastures we'll see such floral delights as gentians, cowslips and primulas. If we are lucky we might find the elegant and graceful martagon and St Bruno's lilies as they stand proud in the valley meadows. The Bernese Oberland is arguably the most attractive of all the Alpine regions and early summer is the absolutely best time to visit.
Icons explained
The vast majority of Exodus adventures are adult group holidays. Groups are always small in size. We strongly believe that this adherence to small groups means a better experience for all; more time with your guide, less waiting around and a reduced impact on the communities and environments visited.
Each group is generally made up of like-minded travellers - with singles, couples and friends all joining in together.
All these trips are suitable for single travellers, but if you prefer to travel with clients booking individually, please
see our Solo Departures page.
In order to provide a more accurate grading system, where a trip falls between two grades we use an intermediate or split grade, for example Leisurely/Moderate. Occasionally, there are optional activities available en route, in this case the optional grade is indicated in brackets, for example Grade Challenging (climb Tough+). Clearly, conditions may differ from region-to-region or month-to-month and as such the information given on these pages is designed to act as a guide only. In all cases you should refer to the respective holiday's Trip Notes for further details.
