Reality Check
This trip has been graded as grade B/C (moderate/challenging) and is suitable for clients with a good level of fitness. Previous trekking experience is desirable but not vital as long as you are confident of your physical condition.
We use hotels in Amman and Petra but whilst trekking in the desert the facilities are basic so please take this into consideration in assessing whether this trip is right for you.
Large parts of the day will be spent trekking and you need to be fit enough to cope with this. We will be walking on sand and scrambling over rocky terrain on days 4 and 5. At times this can be relatively steep with uneven ground and in some instances there will be the use of ropes.
Each day your main luggage will be carried by local jeeps, all you will need to carry is a simple day pack. Jordan can be hot, especially during our summer and this can cause discomfort whilst travelling.
Care should be taken to drink a lot of bottled water. Desert temperatures can be more extreme and it has been known to get down to freezing during the night in the desert. Please be prepared for this.
Normal group size and age
Normally 4 to 14, plus leader and Bedouin camp staff. Minimum age 18.
Misc
From March 2011, Easy Jet started offering low cost flights from London Gatwick to Amman.
At the time of writing, flights are due to run on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. If you would like to make use of this new service and would like us to book any pre or post tour accommodation for you, please contact our Customer Operations team.

The vast majority of Exodus adventures are adult group holidays. Groups are always small in size. We strongly believe that this adherence to small groups means a better experience for all; more time with your guide, less waiting around and a reduced impact on the communities and environments visited.
Each group is generally made up of like-minded travellers - with singles, couples and friends all joining in together.
All these trips are suitable for single travellers, but if you prefer to travel with clients booking individually, please
see our Solo Departures page.
In order to provide a more accurate grading system, where a trip falls between two grades we use an intermediate or split grade, for example Moderate/Challenging. Occasionally, there are optional activities available en route, in this case the optional grade is indicated in brackets, for example Grade Challenging (climb Tough+). Clearly, conditions may differ from region-to-region or month-to-month and as such the information given on these pages is designed to act as a guide only. In all cases you should refer to the respective holiday's Trip Notes for further details.
Walking & Trekking: Trips are wholly trekking-focused or simply include a significant number of walking days during the itinerary.
Culture: Let Exodus show you a different side to many of the world's greatest cultural attractions.
