Africa's highest peak, richest wildlife and most beautiful island

Pool and coast, Fumba Hotel, Zanzibar

This trip truly is the all-encompassing Tanzania experience: some of the greatest wildlife viewing the continent has to offer, the world's highest free-standing mountain and the crystal blue waters of the Indian Ocean.

While on safari we enjoy a comfortable lodge near Ngorongoro Crater, home of the largest concentration of game anywhere in the world, while a permanent secluded camp in Serengeti National Park means we are as close to the wildlife as possible - at the right time of year we may witness the great wildebeest migration from our tent.

The Rongai Route on Kilimanjaro gives us stunning views of Kenya and Tanzania throughout the trek, but few compare to sunrise high above the clouds at Uhuru peak, the highest point in Africa.

Our route is one of the least frequented, retaining a sense of wilderness as we trek through rainforest, moorland and glacial climatic zones. Finally it's time to take a short internal flight to Zanzibar to relax in our beach lodge.

The sights, sounds, aromas and beaches of the beautiful spice island help make a perfect end to an active trip.

RT TripWhat makes this trip responsible?

Tanzania Porter Education Project
Kilimanjaro Porter Assistance projectDuring the long rains (April-June), the non-trekking season, Exodus funds a project to teach English to its porters and other local staff; over 800 to date. Being able to converse with clients in English is an essential skill and this successful initiative has enabled porters to become cooks, assistant guides and even chief guides. With your support our aim is to develop this programme further in the future and provide continued education to our porters during times when work is limited. These skills can also help with employment opportunities for our guides, who can also work as teachers and/or classroom assistants.
Kilimanjaro Guide Scholarship Foundation Inc.We are also working with the Kilimanjaro Guide Scholarship Foundation (KGSF). By working with KGSF Exodus hope to enable many of our guides to further their education on a three month scholarship during the long rains. KSGF (in conjunction with Inter-Continental Training College in Arusha, Tanzania) have created a special course that can run through the rainy season. This course is applicable to guides and porters and will enable them to improve their future career prospects. See our responsible tourism page for more information or to make a tax free donation to the project/scholarship.
