2. Walk slowly.....or 'pole, pole' as the guides would say...
3. Aim to drink about 5 litres of water each day.
4. Have the right walking boots
5. Do some training walks, and keep your aerobic fitness up.
6. Enjoy it!
Statistically, what are the chances of reaching the summit of Kilimanjaro with Exodus?
On all routes Exodus have an enviable success record, often enabling full groups to reach the summit together, this is in part down to our excellent guides and the guiding ratios (2:1) we ensure on Kilimanjaro, but also attributable to the additional acclimatisation days we build into the standard park recommendations for each route we trek.
Rongai Route:
In taking 6 days to complete this beautiful trek we ensure that over 85% of our clients reach Gillman's Point on the crater rim, while two thirds (66%) stand on top of Africa, reaching Uhuru Peak the true summit of Kilimanjaro. Figures based on records since January 2000.
Lemosho Route:
Nearly 99% of our clients on this trip have reached Stella Point on the crater rim, while around 95% have reached Uhuru Peak. The summit day along the Lemosho Route is a lot steeper than that along the Rongai Route, but as the Lemosho Route takes a day longer there is more time to acclimatise, thus giving a better chance of success!
Northern Circuit:
It is difficult to comment on success rates on this itinerary due to the smaller numbers, but the additional acclimatisation time gives all participants the best opportunity for standing at the summit of Africa with 95% of our clients reaching both the crater rim and Uhuru Peak.

General FAQs
When will we know if a trip is going ahead or not?
As soon as we have reached the minimum numbers to guarantee the departure we will let our clients know or if we intend to cancel the departure we will endeavour to advise with appropriate notice.
If you are on the group flights or have pre-arranged this, an Exodus representative will meet you on arrival and transfer you to your Start Point/Hotel.
Where can I read about the cost and different types of insurance available through Exodus?
It is a condition of joining any of our holidays that you must be insured against medical and personal accident risks (to include repatriation costs, air ambulance and helicopter rescue services). We also strongly recommend that you take out cancellation insurance.
Our insurance policy is designed specifically to cover the potential risks on our holidays, and you should be aware that some policies do not include, or restrict, cover for this type of travel. If you do not take our policy, you must ensure that the policy you do take provides an equivalent level of protection and covers you for the activities involved.
Am I entitled to a loyalty reward?
If you've booked on two or more trips with Exodus, you will receive a 5% discount on your next Exodus booking. Dedicated travellers who've been on nine or more trips with Exodus will receive a 10% discount on all subsequent bookings.
Please note: Currently loyalty rewards cannot be applied through web bookings but you can advise us that you are eligible on the online booking form and we will check our records and your final balance will reflect your entitlement. Alternatively, please call 0845 330 6008 and speak to one of our travel experts.
Where can I get health and vaccination advice for my holiday?
We recommend Nomad Travel Stores & Clinics - Nomad provide expert advice on vaccinations, anti-malarials and staying healthy whilst overseas and we're delighted Nomad are also offering all Exodus customers 15% off any kit and 10% off vaccinations online or in any of their stores.
Where can I find all the practical information about this holiday?
