Was a great trip when I look back on it, but was one of the hardest things I have ever done. the final day was really tough at high altitude and if you havent acclimatised you wont make it

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
reaching the summit at Gilmans for the sunset was fantastic and then winning the mental battle to make the extra trip to uhuru peak
What did you think of your group leader?

he and the other guides were the main reason we got to the top. we were all thinking about quitting on the last day, but they helped by keeping us positive and even carrying our bags when we were really flagging. Andrew, Robinson and Ricardo......we are all in their debt

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
get fit. it makes a difference on the final day. the juries out on the diomox, but it might be worth taking if you start getting mountain sickness, which you will get after ascending quickly.

Met people I never knew and we got on great, especially the card playing in the evenings.  Real team spirit, and the guides and porters were absolutely fantastic.

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Reaching the top, as the final push was quite hard, and I certainly didn't expect the mass of snow to fall on us on the way up.
What did you think of your group leader?
Group Leader was very good, and unfortunately one of our group had to be taken down to the hotel from 4,700m, by porters and the group leader, the deputy guide (forget his name now) (Asamali) was absolutely excellent, and certainly should be a guide with his own group.
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

    1.  Do not bother with anti malaria tablets (unless you are continuing on a safari)

    2.  Ensure that you have adequate warm/waterproof clothing and boots for the final ascent, as it was certainly a wild night and very cold.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

The hotel was very nice, and the staff were very friendly.

I was disappointed to read in the guest comments, where other groups were complaining about the food.  Where the hell do they think they are!

The food produced on the trek was brilliant, especially the soup.

Etheopian Airlines - It would have been nice to know all the extra destinations we were going to visit:  i.e. Nairobi on the way out and Kigali & Rome on the way home.  This made for a long journey.  Especially when one member was booked on Kenyan Airways, left 3 hrs after us and was in London before us!

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?
Standing on the summit, with the cloud below us, feeling totally exhausted but totally exhilarated at the same time!
What did you think of your group leader?
Justin was great - and the team of guides (Gerard, Evance, William & Florence) were all fantastic
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
make sure you're fit, listen to what the guides say and go "pole pole" and you will get to the top!

What was the most inspirational moment of your trip?

Getting to Uhuru Peak and standing on the top of Africa. It was such an unreal experience that I couldn't quite take it all in. It is simply a surreal place and it was almost dreamlike. The walk from Gilman's to Uhuru was much harder than I thought (I felt OK at Gilman's!) and it seemed to take an age to get there. I was almost an emotional wreck when I finally did make it and I sat down at the sign and had a good old cry! I couldn't quite believe what I had done and it was all a bit too much!! All that physical and mental torture that had built up had to come out somehow! Make no mistake the summit push is hard but it is worth it and the sense of achievement and exhilaration is incredible. So much so, that I'm heading back there again soon to tackle the Shira route.

What did you think of your group leader?
Meke and his whole team were simply outstanding. Very friendly and talkative and very funny! A top bunch of boys, each and every one of them, from Meke all the way down to the lads who set up/take down the tents. I will add that Meke and a couple of other guides had to help me down from Gilman's (I was feeling just a bit rough by then with mild altitude sickness) and I will be forever grateful for all their help. I will never forget you....thanks gents!
Do you have any advice for potential travellers?
Yes! Make sure you take an insulated water bottle and whatever you do make sure you keep taking sips, especially during the summit push to prevent your water from freezing in the tube! Also, I recommend taking Diamox tablets to limit the effects of altitude sickness. I'm sure they worked wonders for me.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
I really don't think words can describe how amazing this trek really is. It is simply a life changing experience. You will just have to go and try it for yourself. Getting that gold certificate and having your name written in the Uhuru log book is the icing on the cake and a perfect finish to a perfect trek.

What did you think of your group leader?

Excellent, all 4 guides were great, we wouldn't have made it to the top without them. Obete, Daniel, Hans & Wilfred gave loads of good advice and kept us all as calm as possible for what was a huge physical and mental challenge ahead.

Do you have any advice for potential travellers?

Bring as many warm clothes as possible. 5 layers of clothes were used on the summit night, and 4-5 season sleeping bag is a must.  Make sure you drink loads of water and take Diamox.

Is there anything else you would like to add?
The climb on summit evening was the hardest thing I have ever done. About 20% physical / 80% mental challenge and you'll be knacked at the end. But, the view from the top is unbelievable and its a great test and hugely rewarding goal to achieve.
