Frequently Asked Questions
About Your Trip
How should I take my money for Namibia?
Sterling cash is best, and maybe a card as a back up. The local currency is the Namibian Dollar, although South African rand is widely accepted as well. ATMs are available in most towns and can be used to top up, although you shouldn't rely on them for all your cash.

How big are the tents and do we need mozzie nets?
They are large dome 2 man tents. You should be able to stand up in them and the dimensions are approximately 2.4 x 2.4 x 1.8 meter. All the tents have mesh windows and doors so mosquito nets are not needed. Obviously you should keep your tent closed when not in it, to prevent bugs flying in!

What weather should I expect in Namibia?
Namibia is in the Southern Hemisphere, therefore essentially has the opposite weather to the UK. Our summer months of June, July and August, whilst clear and warm during the day, can drop down to single figures and even freezing at night. Between September and May it is considerably warmer with the time between October and March being the hottest, getting up to the high 30s ºC. However it is always a dry heat and the temperature does drop at night. The wet season is between November and February, but this is not a bad time to go as the desert blooms after rainfall and it never rains for very long!

What is the food like while camping in Fish River Canyon?
All meals on the camping trip, (unless stipulated), are cooked on an open fire by your guide. We pride ourselves on excellent bush cuisine and meals might include such dishes as: beef stroganoff, roast chicken,
spaghetti bolognaise and, of course a BBQ. Salads and fresh vegetables will be served where possible, but please note in some areas this is not necessarily every day. Fresh fruit will also be supplied when possible.
