Egypt and Turkey predicted to be amongst the hotspots for 2009

ABTA, the Travel Association and the Foreign & Commonwealth Office have recently released their '2009 Travel Trends Report' which reveals that Turkey and Egypt will see a significant increase in British visitors in 2009 as bookings show that holidaymakers are favouring destinations that do not use the Euro.

The ‘FCO & ABTA 2009 Travel Trends Report’ shows the number of British visitors travelling to Turkey have increased by 32% and to Egypt by 38% in the last year. Exodus clients travelling to Egypt in 2009 will also enjoy the added bonus that all our trips will either be led by, or accompanied by a qualified Egyptologist.

Other destinations highlighted in the report that are expected to be 'hot' for 2009 include Cuba, Iceland and the Galapagos Islands.

Cuba, which yesterday celebrated 50 years since 'La Revolucion' has been a popular destination for a number of years now for Exodus clients and to reflect this we run six different holidays to the Caribbean island, including cultural holidays, walking holidays and even a couple of cycling holidays around Cuba.

 

 

Galapagos Islands

This year is the 200th anniversary since the birth of Charles Darwin, and also marks 50 years since his work on the Origin of Species was published, so what better way to celebrate than with a trip to the islands that inspired his theory of evolution - the Galapagos Islands.  We offer a number of trips to the archipelago including a first class yacht-based cruise and a gentle walking holiday in Darwin's footsteps.

 

 Iceland Geyser

Iceland, the country that was once legendary for its sky-high prices, has become one of the bargain destinations of 2009 as the near-total collapse of its economy last autumn sent the cost of living spiralling downwards. From about £7, a beer is now about £2.50, while a restaurant meal is about a third of the price that it used to be. Travel to Iceland with Exodus in the winter for a long weekend of snowmobiling and glacier exploration, or in the summer on a walking holiday to discover volcanic craters and geysers.
