Winter Snow Report: Update 13th January 2009

The January ski conditions continue to be good throughout Europe.  Generally seen as a quieter period in the French resorts, the cold temperatures have kept the slopes in good condition with Ax-Les-Thermes still reporting 100% of the cross-country runs open.

Dogsledding in SwedenItaly has been enjoying a cracking start to the New Year with fresh snow and bright sunshine being the order of the day.  More light snowfalls are predicted throughout the Dolomites towards the end of the week and cross-country tracks continue to be in tiptop condition.

Although Austria and Switzerland haven’t had a recent snowfall, conditions remain good, with enough snow for enjoyable snowshoeing and skiing.  Fresh snow is predicted for the weekend.

Slovenia is still in good shape with Kranjska Gora recording snow depths of over 200cm on the upper slopes and further snowfalls are set for the weekend.

Looking further afield Norway and Sweden, both have experienced a relatively dry weekend leading to fairly hard packed snow, but bright sunny days and a good overall snow depth mean the conditions are great for all winter activities

All in all it looks like the mountains are the place to be to beat those January blues!
